Position Summary:

As part of the WHH case management team in Istanbul, the Employment Counselor is

responsible for providing employment related guidance and counseling to refugee clients.

This includes being up to date and connected to relevant job networks and platforms, and

vocational training opportunities in Istanbul and beyond. He/she works closely with the WHH

case management team and the project’s partners, to identify relevant opportunities, to

support individual clients to sustainably find income generating opportunities.

1. Technical advice and guidance

• Providing counseling and guidance on job and vocational training related opportunities to refugee clients
• Keeping abreast of relevant developments in the job market in Istanbul, and suitable vocational training and income generating opportunities accessible for refugees
• Working closely with the WHH case management team and the project partners to identify clients, and opportunities
• Advise and support the case management team for work permit related issues and developments

1. Representation

• Attending relevant events and activities on labour related events

1.  General

• Respect confidentiality of beneficiary information and rights of the clients at all times
• Maintain professional boundaries at all times
• Maintain good relations with local stakeholders, including vocational training institutes, job networks, and other stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Economics, or a relevant vocational training, or other social work.
• Work Experience: 1 year of work experience in a similar position; preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Experience working with refugee clients.
  • Experience and knowledge of employment counseling, or job placement related work.
• Skills/knowledge: Attention to details, Competent working with Microsoft Word and Excel,
• Personality requirements: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within different cultural environments, Honest, hardworking and a self-motivated person able to work in a dynamic environment, Strong communication skills.
• Language Skills: Native Arabic language proficiency and proficiency in Turkish (speaking, reading and writing) is required. Speaking proficiency in English and/or any other relevant language (Kurdish, Farsi etc.) is a strong asset.

The Employment Counselor will be obliged to maintain confidentiality regarding all information obtained in the course of his/her work during the employment at Welthungerhilfe and thereafter.
