The MENTOR Initiative is an international NGO providing a humanitarian and healthcare aid to the northern areas of Syria in order to help them reduce the suffering of leishmaniasis disease through medical and prevention programs.

Post Description:
The MENTOR Initiative training officer is responsible for organizing, running and providing assistance during any assigned training session. He/she will work closely with the deputy medical Coordinator in designing/revising training materials to fit the needs of the audience. In addition, he/she will be required to assist in the design of new laboratory IEC materials for field labs.
Mission and principal activities:
- Managing materials and training sessions:
- Contribute to the development of health worker training materials. This includes:
- Presentation PowerPoint slides, video, and pictures
- Group work materials
- Organizing the materials needed for practical demonstrations
- Prepare all materials required during presentations and group work. Ensure that all materials are brought back in the same working condition in which they were first used.
- Give presentations regarding WHO standards for the diagnosis and treatment of leishmaniasis. This session will include presentations on:
- Clinical and laboratory diagnosis
- Introduction to different treatment regimens and proper techniques for intercession injections
- He/she will be responsible for organizing and running any group work activities. Ensure that all materials needed for the activity is prepared and available for all participants.
- Ensure that all training participants are using the materials properly and safely at all times. Correct any wrong behavior immediately.
- Never insist on methodologies that are outside the WHO standards and MENTOR’s capabilities.
- Treat all training participants with respect and patients.
- IEC materials:
- Contribute to the development of new diagnosis and treatment specific IEC job aid materials and patient pamphlets. This includes posters describing the different parts and functions of a microscope, proper protocol for IL treatment, general information for patients, and all other stages of leishmaniasis case management
- Ensure that all job aid and population IEC materials are culturally and ethically sound and will not compromise the messages and standards of MENTOR
- Other:
- Evaluate the performance of the MENTOR trained medical assistants within the supported HFs in the process of clinical diagnosis and treatment are matching WHO protocol.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the Technical Capacity Building Coordinator with regards to MENTOR research.
- Help to find out the scientific problems that are facing the employees at health facilities by routine visits or any practical training at hospitals.
Position criteria:
- Must hold a (Medical) degree or 5 year of experience working in (dermatology /preferable)
- Has at least 1 year of experience working as a dermatology
- Computer skills: PowerPoint and Excel a must
- English language an advantage
