JOB ADVERTISEMENT – Case Worker x24 – Gaziantep and Hatay

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 

Level 3 – the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) due to the nature of this role in country programs;

ROLE PURPOSE:  

Under the overall supervision of Case Management Officer, the Case Management Assistant (Case Worker) will be in charge of case management process; including identification, assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and case closure. The CMA is expected to adhere to the agreed upon Standard Operations Procedures of case management.

SCOPE OF ROLE:  

Reports to: Case Management Officer, receives technical guidance from the CP Specialist.

Dimensions: The CM Assistant will be responsible for implementing SC Turkey’s emergencies response case management programme in targeted locations. S/he will proactively work identification, registration, care plan establishment, referrals, direct service provision, progress monitoring and case closure. With Technical Guidance of the CP Specialist and in coordination with the local coordination structures.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

Under the direct supervision of the Case Management Senior Officer, the Case Worker will:

  • Identify, assess, document, refer (to relevant services) and follow-up of at-risk children and families (Case Management)
  • Establish individualized case plans and monitor and support cases until case closure
  • Ensure a child centered approach and always act in the best interests of the child.
  • Provide information on existing social services and how to access them
  • Work as a member of a team ensuring fluid communication of relevant information in order to make sure that cases are supported in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Collaborate and coordinate with community mobilization team and MHPSS team to identify and manage child protection cases within the community
  • Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of child protection risks
  • Participate in weekly case conferences
  • Maintain files, registers, computer databases and records in paper or electronic format based on principle of confidentiality
  • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES 

Essential:

  • At least 2 year experience within a development/humanitarian organization and at least 1 year experience in the field of Case Management or child protection in general.
  • Bachelor Degree in social work, sociology, or another relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge on child protection, case management, child rights and emergency response. 
  • Experience working with vulnerable and at-risk groups
  • Experience in managing field staff
  • Experience in providing/ facilitating training, meeting
  • Good working knowledge on using MS Office, and internet
  • Fluent in written and spoken Turkish

Desired:

  • Experience in humanitarian context in child protection case management
  • Knowledge and understanding of inter-agency standards and guidelines in child protection, including the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.
  • Language skill in English, Arabic and Kurdish will be assets

Position holders will be based in Gaziantep or Hatay, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
