TITLE: Cleaner x2

TEAM/PROGRAMME: HR&Admin

LOCATION: NWS Gaziantep

CONTRACT LENGTH: 6 Months (With possibility of extension)

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 

Level 1 – Position holder will not have contact with children or young people.

ROLE PURPOSE: 

The core objective of this role is to ensure the professional and reliable cleanliness of our office premises, fostering a healthy and welcoming environment for our internal staff and visitors. The position may involve occasional work in the guesthouse, extending beyond the usual location, with flexibility in adjusting working hours as needed.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Admin Coordinator

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

To clean all areas of the offices/guesthouses thoroughly, with the key aim of enhancing the conditions of living space by having excellent standards. 

Daily Cleaning Tasks

  • Making coffee and tea beverages
  • Vacuuming and wiping down all surfaces
  • Dusting and polishing chairs, desks, tables, cupboards, and shelves
  • Cleaning the interiors of cupboards
  • Dusting picture frames and cleaning picture glass
  • Polishing filing, stationary, and poster cabinets
  • Cleaning and disinfecting/sterilizing toilets, bathrooms, balconies, terrace, front and back yard
  • Rubbing up the fringe/railing
  • Sweeping and washing/mopping floor tiles and marble
  • Dusting all other fixtures and fittings, including skirting, radiators, pipes, fire extinguishers, and other reachable surfaces
  • Cleaning windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
  • Carrying out instructions from management, admin team, and head of office
  • Cleaning buildings by emptying trash and replacing trash can liners
  • Washing/decontaminating dishes, crockery, glasses, and kitchen appliances
  • Preparing tea/coffee for visitors and guests when required
  • Preparing refreshments for meetings and maintaining cleanliness in meeting rooms
  • Dusting furniture and scrubbing surfaces clean
  • Using cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces
  • Identifying and reporting possible repairs
  • Vacuuming and wiping all rooms and surfaces at guest houses
  • Making beds, changing sheets, putting sheets in the washing machine, and drying them
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly maintained and report any malfunctions
  • Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues immediately
  • Always adhering to all company policies and procedures

 

Weekly Cleaning Tasks

  • Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen appliances, including the microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker
  • Wet-wiping all skirting boards
  • Taking down and washing all bric-a-brac
  • Dusting all lamp shades and bulbs
  • Dusting all ceiling and wall extraction fans/ACs
  • Wet-wiping and polishing all high-level shelves, bric-a-brac, and books
  • Cleaning windows and window ledges
  • Changing bed linen/pillowcase/sheets in the guesthouse twice a week
  • Deep cleaning in the office and guesthouses once a week
  • Washing the curtains once a month
  • Monitoring the cleaning/kitchen supplies and keeping Admin team informed

The post-holder will comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child guarding, code of conduct, Anti-harassment, fraud, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • Certificate of Education
  • Good knowledge of cleaning duties
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Minimum 1 year experience in this or equivalent post 
  • Verbal and written communication skills in Turkish (English or Arabic would be desirable)
  • Good interpersonal skills

Position holder will be based in Gaziantep, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
