Job Purpose
The Communications Assistant will support the IFRC Türkiye Delegation’s general communications as well as the above standard visibility plan for the Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN).
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Communications Assistant is responsible for the following under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager:
- Support the successful implementation of IFRC Türkiye’s above standard visibility plan and other communications plans
- Manage files (both physical and digital) including communications SharePoint and other mediums as needed
- Support the organization of events, media visits, trainings, meetings, workshops and travels within communications department
- Take photos and videos during events, field visits and trainings and edit them for different channels
- Support the production and translation of key documents, talking points, presentations, etc.
- Provide visibility and graphic design support to the Delegation when needed
- Provide regular media monitoring and report including identification of potential reputational risks
- Provide administrative and logistics support to all projects within the communications department
- Take meeting notes when needed and manage the calendar(s) of the communications department as well as planning tools and documents
- Help the IFRC staff easily navigate within key folders and platforms such as the branding folder, shaRED AV Platform, and support/train staff on daily needs
- Support managing relations/contracts/payments with external service providers such as graphic designers and editors when support is needed
- Support the X-Media Delegate in content production, especially with TikTok and easy content
- Proactively participate in creative brainstorming sessions on campaigns and events
- Support the communications unit in other tasks as required
Education
Required:
- Bachelors’ degree in design, journalism, communications, marketing or international relations
Preferred:
- Masters’ degree in a related field
Experience
Required:
- Experience in creating compelling content for a variety of communications channels
- Experience in event organization, visibility, and photography
Preferred:
- At least two years of experience in communications, campaigns, social media
- Experience in multimedia design and website management
- Proven experience in working directly with refugees and other vulnerable people
- Experience in project management and coordinating several stakeholders to reach project goals
- Experience working in an international humanitarian, international development or related field
- Experience working on donor communications/visibility requirements
- Red Cross and Red Crescent and IFRC experience
Knowledge, Skills and Languages
Required:
- Knowledge of humanitarian affairs

- Good video and sound editing skills
- Good photography and editing skills
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills
- Proficient in use of design softwares including Adobe and Canva
- Demonstrated understanding and use of social media for communications and advocacy purposes

- Fluently spoken and written English
- Fluently spoken and written Turkish
Preferred:
- Comfortable working and communicating with number of National Societies in a diverse environment
