Toplum için Yenilik ve Yardım Derneği is seeking a Content Designer to support our communications and media team in creating print and digital content for our community and partner organizations. As a member of this team, you’ll create visual storytelling and communications materials for various digital and print platforms that span global partners and external audiences. You’ll be responsible for developing and adhering to creative concepts that support Syrian refugee inclusion, innovation, and leadership. Deliverables include the production of print (reports, brochures) and digital (videos, photographs) assets. Being a content designer on our team means you’ll be working closely with your fellow designers and will report to the Director of Communications.

ABOUT US
Toplum için Yenilik ve Yardım Derneği was founded in 2017 with a mission to support refugees build their new lives in Turkey and become positive contributors to society.
Through our innovative approach to aid and programming, we help all members of the family with support tailored to the needs of each generation. We provide financial stipends on the condition that parents send their children back to school. We also provide awareness on life skills, a space for youth to create and innovate, one-on-one coaching, scholarships for college students, and much more. Our goal is to highlight the collective shared culture and values between refugees, migrants, and the Turkish community and to encourage, support, and develop a generation that gives back to society.
What We’re Looking For: The Essentials

At least 2 years of experience working with humanitarian or social good organizations or brands on design, ethical storytelling, and/or content-creation projects

Experience working in a fast-paced communications environment with a team of multi-disciplinary creatives including other designers, copywriters, photographers, and directors

Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite

Experience planning for and producing videos; from the initial brainstorming session to storyboarding to editing and post-production tuning.

Comfort/experience in filming videos and taking photos

Fluent proficiency in either Arabic or English

Turkish Citizen or holds Istanbul-issued Turkey Residency Permit
What We’re Looking For: Strongly Preferred

Fluency in two or more languages (Arabic, English, Turkish)

Experience in advertising/brand storytelling

Experience in animation and/or illustration
-
Experience in conducting and/or filming interviews, specifically with youth and families.

Experience working on Syria.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Along with the Communications team, you will work on projects including:

Production of programmatic reports (digital/print) to be used internally or externally for our audience and donor/partner meetings

Brochures discussing our work to be used by the community and/or for marketing purposes

Videos for events and activities, and post-event cuts of virtual events

Videos of interviews and stories from the community we serve

Videos about our work, our programs, and our organization

Photo edits and color grading
REPORTS TO: Director of Communications
LOCATION: Karam House Istanbul (Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, Turkey) or Karam House Reyhanli with possible visits to the other location.
HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Saturday - Wednesday.
COMPENSATION: Based on the candidate's level of experience, qualifications, and the organization's salary scale in Turkish Lira

We have built two Karam Houses, innovative workspaces for Syrian refugee teens, in Istanbul and Reyhanli, Turkey, which take on new innovative approaches to refugee education and learning. At Karam Houses, hundreds of Syrian refugee teens learn through access to cutting-edge technology (maker spaces, internet, computers), expert mentorship, and a sophisticated studio design-based curriculum to build their ideas and inspire their community.
We are on a mission to grow 10,000 Leaders by 2028.
