In line with Türkiye’s bid for EU membership, Sweden implements a bilateral cooperation program in these areas in collaboration with civil society, private sector, government, and international organisations of which Türkiye is a member. Our work is based on a multidimensional understanding of poverty where lack of economic and education opportunities as well as means of political participation and human security are considered as aspects of poverty.

If so, the Swedish Embassy in Ankara has a job opportunity for you. We are recruiting a Development Analyst/Program Officer to fill the vacancy of a departing colleague in the section for development cooperation.
This is an important post within the Embassy, which we are looking to fill with an individual who is motivated, eager to learn, responsive, proactive, creative and with the heart in Türkiye.
Main responsibilities;
- Develop and share knowledge of Sweden’s multidimensional poverty analyses and apply it to the work at the Embassy including keeping track of key data and statistics as well as national development and action plans
- Follow the political development in Türkiye from a sustainable development perspective with a focus on democracy, human rights, rule of law and gender equality and contribute to analyses and reporting at the Embassy
- Support the Head of Section in drafting annual plans and reports
- Develop our network of interlocutors and strategic thinking
- Manage grant agreements with Turkish and international partners in line with Sida and Embassy rules and regulations with a results-based approach, including by follow-up visits all around the country
- Enable the integration of Swedish perspectives on sustainable development, notably gender equality, environment/climate, and conflict as well as development effectiveness in all projects and activities supported
- Contribute to discussions on the development context, on results from our contributions, managing external evaluations and studies and participate in Sida’s global thematic knowledge networks
- To make a positive contribution to the working environment at the Embassy
Necessary qualifications:
- Academic degree in a field relevant to the work of the section
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, for example from international or Turkish civil society organisations, think tanks or private sector philanthropy, other Embassies, EU, UN, or other international organisations,
- Good understanding of governance and human rights issues in Turkey as well as experience from interacting with relevant civil society, private sector, and public sector actors
- Experience from writing analytical reports
- Excellent oral and writing communication skills
- Excellent command of English and Turkish
- Positive and flexible attitude, social sensitivity and responsiveness, ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and contributing to team spirit
Merits:
- Experience from local level development initiatives in Türkiye
- Experience from representing an international organization
- Specific areas of experience and/or expertise of relevance to the section’s work

Staff recruited locally are subject to terms and conditions according to Turkish employment law and Swedish MFA guidelines for local staff. Salary is set on an individual basis. An attractive package of working conditions including insurance is offered.
