Position Title: Education and Social Activities Coordinator
Classification: 3 Months Consultancy Contract – with possible extension

General Functions: 

Under the overall supervision of the National Programme Officer(integration) based in Ankara and the direct supervision of the Project field Coordinator in Adana, the incumbent will responsible in providing support and services for migrants and refugees and to promote social cohesion for the Municipal Migrant and Refugee Center under the Adana Metropolitan Municipality.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Identify and coordinate relevant social and educational needs and activities based on the work plan of the project and other collaborations being established with relevant stakeholders.

• Coordinate organization of Turkish language courses and art and cultural workshops for children and  make sure that the courses, workshops run smoothly.

• Coordinate organization of  women’s health trainings and “I know my rights” trainings for adult migrants and refugees and assist in making sure that the trainings run smoothly.

• Participate relevant field visits undertaken by the Adana Metropolitan Municipality Migrant Coordination and Cohesion Center (”Center”)and/or organize field visits if required. 

• Collect requests from children and adult migrants and refugees in accessing social and educational activities. 

• Regularly report migrants and refugees’ common problems and needs in access to educational and social activities as well as sustainability and quality of these activities.

• Meet and liaise with relevant local public authorities and civil society organizations to improve access  to social and educational activities for migrants and refugees.

• Contribute to organization of education briefings, other trainings and preparation of informative materials on education.

• Conduct social and educational activities in cooperation with relevant NGO’s and public institutions.

• Work closely with other counsellors and interpreters of the Center.

• Report challenges and progress recorded in realization of activities and duties.

• Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Education: 

• University degree in Social Science, Education or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience; or 

• Completed High school degree from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience: 

• Experience in relevant field and in working with vulnerable groups;

• Proven good communicational, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills;

• Proven good communicational and written skills in Turkish and/or Arabic;

• Proven good level of computer literacy;

• Residing or willing to reside in Adana.

Language 

• Fluency in Turkish is required.  

• Knowledge of Arabic and English is advantageous.

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
