Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries.Concern has been working in Turkey since August 2013 and currently looking for Education Assistant.

Job Purpose:The Education Assistant will be support Education Projects and will specifically support the conditional cash for education programme,which aims to bridge out of school children who are working with the formal education system. The Assistants will work with children, families and communities and spread awareness about the importance of education.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily and weekly reporting on activities to Concern Program Officers
  • Support evaluation and design of Concern’s education programme in Turkey
  • Logistical support for Concern’s education projects
  • Identification and follow-up with families receiving conditional cash for education
  • Follow-up with teachers at Turkish schools and TECs to ensure children receiving conditional cash for education are attending school regularly
  • Documentation of lessons learned
  • Interpretation with local authorities and community representatives (English, Arabic, Turkish)
  • Facilitate seminars for parents and caregivers
  • Refer children and families to Concern’s Protection Team when necessary
  • Implement monitoring and evaluation activities

Other tasks

  • Contribute to organisational accountability initiatives, including overseeing the roll out of commitments of Concern under the HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership).
  • Support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to their team, beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment
  • Support emergency response programming for Concern as and when requested.

Person Specification

Minimum Education, Qualifications & Experience Required: 

·    Minimum one-year relevant work experience in a similar capacity preferably in NGO sector. Lesser experience with higher educational background acceptable

·         Fluent in Turkish and Arabic

Good Computing skills, including use of spread sheet and electronic mail

·     Excellent communication, facilitation and diplomacy skills with children and adults and ability to speak with School Coordinators respectfully

·       Basic understanding of Turkey education system and child protection

·       Strong facilitation and organizational skills

Preference will be given to candidates who are:

 

·       English language skills are highly preferable

·       The ability to priorities competing demands

·        Ability to work in a systematic and organized manner

·        Positive attitude and willingness to learn

·        Ability to work independently and take initiative

·   Commitment to humanitarian principles and values and understanding of child development and child protection

·      To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct
