                                                                        Education Officer

About Concern: Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern has been working in Turkey since August 2013 and currently looking for aqualified Education Officer based in Şanlıurfa.

Job Identification:

Job Title:                               Education Officer

Location:                               Sanliurfa

Reporting Line:                    ECHO Programme Coordinator

Closely work with:              Protection Manager, Community Center Team Leaders,

Protection Officers, Protection Assistants.

Contract Length:                11 months, open for renewal subject to donor funding.

 

Job Purpose: The Education Officer will lead Concern’s activities in the education sector, which support the identification of out-of-school children and their enrolment into formal and non-formal education opportunities in Turkey. The Education Officer will represent Concern in the Education working group and to the Provincial Directorate of National Education. The Education Officer will develop SOPs and training materials for the project team. The Education Officer is overall responsible for the quality of all education sector activities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement outreach campaign with project assistants in each community center, to identify out of school children, provide information about education activities and to enrol them into their selected education
  • Lead follow up with school coordinators about enrolment of out-of-school children
  • Coordination and reporting of project activities to the Provincial Directorate of National Education.
  • Represent Concern in the Education working group and towards other organizations who are working in the Education sector.
  • Design and implement a system for follow up with children after they have been enrolled into school, plus identification of additional needs, which may be referred to other organizations or other teams within Concern.
  • Design SOPs and trainings for the project team about identification and enrolment of out-of-school children.
  • Reporting on education project activities to donors.

 

Other tasks

  • Contribute to organisational accountability initiatives, including overseeing the roll out of commitments of Concern under the HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership).
  • Support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to their team, beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment.
  • Other tasks as and when requested.

 

Required Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 2 years’ experience in NGO/humanitarian education sector.
  • Fluent English and Turkish,
