Finance Officer

Duty Station: Gaziantep Province, Turkey

Contract length: 4 months

RET International, www.theRET.org, headquartered in Geneva Switzerland, with offices around the world, is an independent, impartial, non-partisan organisation, with no religious or political affiliation. RET International was founded in 2000, by Mrs Sadako Ogata, then High Commissioner of UNHCR, to address the dire need for education in emergencies in fragile contexts for vulnerable young people affected by displacement, violence, armed conflict and disasters.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Graduated from Business, Economics, Finance, preferably financial experience,
  • Become adaptable to international working environments, preferably experienced in international development programs,
  • Have good English skills in verbal and written language,
  • Effective on Microsoft Office Programs
  • Preferably with class B driver’s license,
  • Flexibility to meet urgent business demands and needs,
  • Having the ability to prioritize jobs and train them in targeted,
  • Having the appropriate management of interpersonal relations and strong communication skills,
  • Flexibility to travel
  • Respectful, team-oriented, and supportive of their colleagues.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the drafting and development of project proposals budget and coordinate the preparation of in accordance with RET and donor’s requirements,
  • Supervise programmes/project budgets follow up using relevant reports to identify relevant / expected implementation discrepancies and ensure these are relayed to the Programme Coordinators/Managers and Finance Manager,
  • Ensure that there are enough funds available in the country to execute the activities by supervising the relevant reports and transactions (cash reconciliations, funds requests, etc),
  • Advice the Finance Manager and Programme Manager on the overall relationship and transactions with the financial institutions,
  • Advice the Programme Coordinator on the budget follow-up and be responsible of the accurate expenditure of the budget,
  • Ensure that the expenses executed by RET are allocated to the relevant programme correctly and in line with the RET’s Field Finance Manual. She/he will also ensure that any specific donor requirements are adhered to during the execution of the budget,
  • Ensure proper accounting of all programme’s transactions using the relevant RET tools,
  • Ensure proper preparation of Financial reports, list of expenses, bank accounts reconciliation, etc. in accordance with RET requirements and applicable tools,
  • Submit monthly financial reports and send the relevant reports and scanned supporting documents in accordance with RET requirements to the HQ,
  • Manage overall relationship with local reviewers/auditors and other relevant authorities,
  • Ensure systematic filing/documentation of office,
  • Conduct field travel as necessary to review field procedures and assist managers in their needs,
  • Overview of the performance of local partners, ensuring the effective and transparent use of funds,
