ABOUT THE ROLE

Re:Coded is seeking a Finance Associate to support the Finance Director in managing, processing and troubleshooting various accounts and transactions for the organization. This role will be responsible for collecting and recording financial information in a timely manner, as well as keeping account balances up-to-date so Finance Director and COO can monitor budgets, profits and spending. The Finance Associate will also be responsible for other duties, including, but not limited to, recording and retrieving entries from the financial database, reconciling account balances, preparing invoices, creating receipts, monitoring payroll, generating reports and other general accounting activities. The Finance Associate will report to the Finance Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are in compliance with Re:Coded and funding source policies, procedures, and requirements.

  • Process and prepare financial and business forms for the purpose of checking account balances, facilitating purchases, etc.

  • Review all supporting documents related to payments and processing payments

  • Act as a petty cash cashier

  • Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the finance director

  • Help oversee and manage individual accounts

  • Enter financial data into the accounting system

  • General bookkeeping

  • Update financial records in a timely manner

  • Keep track of accounts payable and accounts receivable and reconcile related balances

  • Track and reconcile bank statements

  • Create, send, and follow up on invoices

  • Review and adhere to department and project budgets

  • Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensuring all calculations and data entries are correct

  • Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with employees and/or clients/donors/vendors

  • Collect information for and prepare payroll payments for employees

  • Assist the Finance Director in creating financial reports on a regular basis

  • Adhere to the current accounting/finance laws and regulations and organisation's financial policies and procedures

  • Answers question and provide assistance to stakeholders, customers, and clients as needed

  • Attend finance department and company-wide meetings and take notes at all financial department meetings

  • Assist with financial reporting to managers and senior executives

  • Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions

  • Collect and enter data to prepare spreadsheets, including budgets, accounting information, etc

  • Assist with external, internal, donor or government audits as necessary


REQUIREEMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably supporting financial operations in organizations with international donors.

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, finance or a related field. 

  • Experience working with computerized accounting systems, standard spreadsheet and database programs. Experience working with Quickbooks Online is preferred.

  • Strong computer skills and ability to easily navigate all platforms within G-Suite and Microsoft Office.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Turkish is a must. Working knowledge of Arabic is an asset. 

  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with honesty and integrity.

  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.

  • Excellent mathematical skills.
