AAR Japan started working in Turkey in response to Van Earthquake 2011 and was one of the first international Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) on the ground responding to the Syrian Crisis. Since 2012, AAR Japan has implemented cross-sectoral projects on basic needs, education, food security, protection and health targeting urban refugees in Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Mardin and Istanbul.

The project’s overall goal, on one hand, is to contribute in building a protective environment for people with disabilities by addressing their health issues, protection risks, and their vulnerabilities and on the other hand, facilitating durable solutions for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in their interest.

AAR Japan is looking for a Finance Officer who will be positioned in Istanbul Office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Daily bookkeeping, including documentation and processing of payment vouchers, and assist the procurement of items and supplies;

2) Draft financial reports on a weekly and/or monthly basis;

3) Assist in maintaining a sound financial management of AAR Japan’s Istanbul mission and in budgeting project activities;

4) Preparing official documents and reports and translating between English and Turkish / Turkish and English;

5) Liaison with various stakeholders, including Turkish authorities;

6) Other duties as assigned by the Employer;

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a relevant or transferable area of work.
  • Experience to use a computer and Microsoft Office software, especially MS Excel and MS Word
  • Experience to develop and maintain basic functions in MS Excel.
  • Ability to speak at least 2 languages.
  • Experience/ability to write/review clear reports with very few mistakes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Excellent personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Willingness to travel and work in a difficult environment.

Desirable:

  • Bachelor/Master degree.
  • 2 years professional experience or more.
  • 1 year of experience in the same field/area of work.
  • Experience and ability to motivate people and to manage a team.
  • Experience of taking initiative and being proactive.
