Innovation Officer ESSN III (IFRC03676)
IFRC is currently seeking an Innovation Officer to join the ESSN III Team in Ankara (Turkey).
Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Team Leader – Capacity Support and Learning, the Innovation Officer will implement or support specific projects that increase or hasten access, analysis, understanding, interpretation, and dissemination of data to address specific thematic issues under the ESSN. The role will include contributing towards building tools, knowledge products, process maps and services that will capture learning from implementation of the ESSN programme.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide support on innovation strategy/action plan, including formulation, design, planning and implementation.
- Proactively scout for new innovative ideas and opportunities for capturing learning from implementing of ESSN programming and replication.
- Develop partnerships and network with national and international public and private partners to build and provide a space to nurture and test new and innovative ideas and build local capacity.
- Coordinate and support development and testing of innovation products and processes to strengthen and improve efficiency and effectiveness of ESSN programming, monitoring and evaluation, advocacy and communication.
- Provide training for IFRC staff, Turkish Red Crescent staff, partner staff, government counterparts and other end users in the country in the use of innovation products and processes.
- Document tested innovation projects and processes and ensure effective sharing and generation of knowledge around innovations.
- Document and contribute to evidence-based learning and knowledge sharing for the Movement and larger humanitarian network.
- Engage with the IFRC global and regional Innovations team; seek learning and experience sharing opportunities.
- Provide progress reports on results against objectives and risk analyses as required.
- Contribute to a client-oriented approach that values proactivity, continuous improvement, innovation, high performance and cost effectiveness.
Education
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Information Technology, Social Sciences, Business Administration or other relevant disciplines
Experience
Required
- A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in public or private sector working on innovation projects.
- Ideally 3 years of operational experience in Information Management or Assessments in the humanitarian/development field.
- Understanding of global social innovation trends and strong research skills to design and implement innovation strategies.
- Experience in developing and testing innovation products, services and/or processes.
- Ability to design experiments, validate hypotheses and test prototypes.
- Strong IT skills and understanding how IT based applications can effectively support innovation
Preferred
- Ability to lead implementation of new systems (business side), and affect staff behavioural/attitudinal change
Knowledge, skills and languages
Required
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities
- Good leadership, coaching, analytical, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Knowledge and experience with statistics, socio-economic survey methodologies, quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques and tools. Languages
Required
- Fluently spoken and written Turkish and English
Preferred
- Good command of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish or Arabic)
