General Functions:

 

Under the overall supervision of the National Project Officer (Education & Protection) based in Gaziantep, and direct supervision of the Project Field Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible in providing interpretation services on the above-mentioned project. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible in providing assistance in general project coordination of the Adana Metropolitan Municipality Migrant Center in close cooperation with IOM Turkey programme teams.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1.Assist migrants and refugees at the Adana Municipality Migrant Center (“the Center”) in providing Arabic - Turkish/ Turkish - Arabic interpretation services and refer them to the Center staff.

2.Assist the Center staff in providing interpretation services during counselling and referral services, awareness sessions and trainings, educational and social activities.

3.Assist the Center staff in the field visits and provide interpretation services.

4.Assist migrants and refugees in their visits to the local public institutions for necessary interpretation services, if required.

5.Assist translation services for informative materials (brochures, posters etc.) and participate meetings, trainings etc.

6.Work closely with the Center staff.

7.Report progress and challenges during the service provision on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

8.Keep and save all project related documents, monthly reports and its supporting documents in file.

9.Enter project related data regularly and accurately to the database system.

10.Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

 

Education:

 

  • University degree in Communication, Media, Business Administration, International Relation, Social Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Completed High School degree in above field with four years of relevant experience.  

 

Experience:

 

·         Excellent command in Turkish and Arabic Language is required.

·         Proven analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills;

·         Proven good level of computer literacy;

·         Experience in liaising with migrant communities and vulnerable groups;

·         Experience working in the region is an advantage;

·         Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national / international institutions.

·         Good communicational, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.

·         Residing or willing to reside in Adana.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in Turkish and Arabic is required.
  • Working knowledge of English is advantageous.

In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
