JOB ADVERTISEMENT – IT Intern

SCI employ approximately 25,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 100 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and child protection. We also campaign and advocate at the highest levels to realise the right of children and to ensure their voices are heard.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: 

To provide varied and complex assistance to the Country Office and other teams in IT related activities along with IT Officer. The IT Intern will have responsibility for ensuring the communications and technological support for operations in Turkiye. This involves providing IT assistance, developing software, data visualization and hardware maintenance among other duties.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

Set up and Deployment

  • Provide IT assistance, and hardware and software troubleshooting to staff
  • Connect staff computers to the Office Network.

Maintenance

  • Help install Internet connection and follow-up with the maintainance of the network
  • Configure network/programmes/equipment (laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, tablets etc..)

Development

  • Develop software with Powerapps - Can be learned on the job.
  • Develop data visualization projects with PowerBI - Can be learned on the job

Capacity Building

  • Attend relevant meetings
  • Learning about server management, hardware maintenance and other responsibilities.
  • Any other duties related to the nature of the job as directed by the supervisor.

Other:

Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, safety and security and other relevant policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Preferably previous experience (including paid internships) in NGOs or private sector.
  • Demonstrated skills in basic PC troubleshooting, software and hardware support, networking and data backup.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Turkish
  • Willing to learn and improving yourself
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Good attention to details and to be able to work under stress;
  • Strong organisational skills and discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Proven ability to handle challenging work load
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Desirable

  • Code portfolio in Github, Bitbucket, Gitlab, etc. - learning projects and homeworks do count. Cloning the Udemy course repository does not.
  • Demonstrated skills on Powerapps and Microsoft-related technologies (ASP.net, C# and so on).
  • Experience with MS Office package and Windows Server
  • Knowledge on JavaScript. Demonstrable skill is preferable
  • Knowledge on PowerBI. Demonstrable skill is preferable
  • Knowledge on algorithms, basic programing flow, variables, control structures.

Position holder will be based in Istanbul, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
