TIYYD is seeking a IT/Storage Specialist who will be responsible for providing support for technical equipment and network in Karam House. S/he maintains the storage room and the checking-in/checking-out of equipment and supplies.

ABOUT TIYYD’s KARAM HOUSE

Karam House is an innovative workspace for Syrian and Turkish teens, in Istanbul and Reyhanli, Turkey, which defy traditional approaches to education for the most vulnerable in local communities. At Karam Houses, hundreds of teens learn through access to technology (maker spaces, internet, computers), expert mentorship (Syrian refugee architects and engineers), and a sophisticated design-based curriculum (developed by MIT grads) that teaches youth how to build their ideas and their community.

We think about refugees and humanitarian aid differently and so we do things differently. We believe in investing deeply in communities affected by conflict.

RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

  • Provide support for the technology equipment used at Karam House

  • Maintain the software and security of all computer equipment.

  • Maintain historical records by documenting hardware and software changes and revisions.

  • Maintain system integrity by testing computer components.

  • Test and fix faulty equipment.

  • Install and configure new technological equipment.

  • Respond to and assist staff with any equipment-related issues.

  • Maintain secure and safe storage of all equipment, networks and systems.

  • Control inventory by conducting physical counts and reconciling with data storage databases.

  • Maintain physical condition of storage, inspect equipment, issue work orders for repair and requests for replacement.

  • Safeguard storage operations and contents by maintaining and monitoring security procedures and protocols.

  • Produce reports and statistics regularly (in/out reports, inventory, IT support, etc).

  • Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided.

  • Other tasks as may be assigned by the Support Services Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other related field

  • Minimum of 2 year experience in a similar role

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills

  • Up-to-date technical knowledge

  • An in depth understanding of software and equipment in general

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Accurate record keeping capabilities

  • Team player

  • Competence in Google Drive (documents, sheets, slides) and Microsoft Office Suite (excel, PowerPoint, )

  • Proficiency in English language required.

  • Proficiency in Turkish and/or Arabic language preferred.

  • Turkish Citizenship or Istanbul Issued Residence Permit.

REPORTS TO: Support Services Manager

LOCATION: Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, Turkey

HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week. 

WORKING DAYS:: Saturday to Wednesday

COMPENSATION: Based on the candidate's level of experience, qualifications, and the organization's salary scale in Turkish Lira.
