General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population.

Orange partners directly with affected Syrian populations delivering humanitarian and development programmes, Food Security, Livelihood, Education, and Protection, to enable them to improve their living practices and their sustainability mechanisms.

Orange also collaborates with national and international non-governmental organizations, local initiatives responding to the humanitarian Syrian crisis with capacity development programmes, to be better equipped with the skills they need to prepare and respond to affected population’s needs and to ensure that these communities, which we work within, are ready for any future disasters.

Job Purpose:

Orange Organization aims to empower the economic situation of the displacement-affected persons through skills training and linkages to local markets via the provision of seed funds to start their small businesses as well as the coaching during the start-up face of these small projects. Through business development center Sanliurfa, Orange provides several short-term business skills training opportunities as well as coaching services. Targeted beneficiaries will have the opportunity to develop their business plans and enrolled within a business competition which will be led by a jury of experts. Winning business plans will be supported by a seed fund and they will be followed by dedicated coaches.

The Market Mapping Officer will focus on market research and analysis, Conduct regular / ongoing market research to contribute to the design and implementation of market-based livelihoods programming and help the supported trainees and SMEs to get integrated into the Turkish labor market, will support the implementation of comprehensive economic empowerment activities, within the Orange’s program framework and in line with Orange’s standards.

Duties, objectives, and competencies:

Overall Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular / ongoing market research to contribute to the design and implementation of market-based livelihoods programming and help the supported trainees and SMEs to get integrated into the Turkish labor market
  • Work in close cooperation with all departments to ensure all livelihoods activities (e.g. skills development, business start-ups support, and seed fund, etc.) respond to identified market demand and needs
  • Collect and disseminate up-to-date information on the regulations relating to employment, self-employment and business registration and applicable to target beneficiaries

  • Support the identification of suitable service providers and stakeholders (private companies and governmental institutes, microfinance and venture capitalist institutes and individuals, vocational training centres, banks, etc.) for livelihoods activities

  • Maintain and improve relations with relevant stakeholders in support to Livelihoods and private companies to inform the market research

Access to employment

  • Advice on relevance of trainings based on an analysis of marketable skills
  • Review training curricula to ensure they enable the development of marketable skills
  • Conduct outreach with private sector actors to identify and map internship, job vacancies and microfinancing and maintain a database easily accessible by all relevant Livelihoods staff
  • Facilitate the participation of beneficiaries and private companies in job fairs

Business development / self-employment

  • Work in close cooperation with the Project team ( Coordinator, officer, trainer, and assistant) during business skills development trainings and business plan development to increase beneficiaries’ access to relevant market information
  • Facilitate the participation of beneficiaries in product fairs
  • Provide market integration support, linking beneficiaries to end-markets (including through the platform Buy4Impact) where they can sell their production

General Programming and Operations

  • Engage in outreach activities related to the project (with community members, local NGOs, and private sector contacts)
  • Identify and discuss with supervisor/team new approaches related to skills trainings and entrepreneurship to ensure a flexible and relevant implementation based on the needs of beneficiaries
  • Identify and discuss with supervisor/team the need for relevant assessments and focus group discussions to improve programming
  • Promote a strong link between livelihood beneficiaries, protection activities/community centers
  • Complete any additional tasks identified by Supervisor
  • Incorporate technical feedback provided by the Funding Partner to ensure quality market mapping, analysis and support
  • Support the organization of trainings and other events related to the project

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Field visits on a regular basis to monitor the business well-being (clients of the business, income generate - along with the M&E team -) and regular reporting to supervisor about the supported SMEs
  • Participate in the internal evaluation of the program

Requirements:

  • University degree or advanced in business administration, economics, marketing, and related field.
  • Experience in market research and analysis, experience in business administration and business development, Relevant professional experience with a humanitarian aid organization.

· Very good understanding regarding the market mapping mechanisms and business evaluation criteria development;

· Strong communication skills, including the ability to coordinate with multiple parties and external stakeholders;

  • Very strong market research skills
  • Capacity to work independently
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation, with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles

· Very good computer skills including MS office.

· Hard-working, proactive, and able to prioritize and delegate a demanding workload.

· Turkish Nationality is required.

· Fluency in Turkish and Arabic is essential, and good knowledge of English is highly preferred.
