                                                                               MEAL Assistant 

 

Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest, and conflict affected countries. Concern has been working in Türkiye since August 2013 and currently looking for a MEAL Assistant for Sanliurfa.

Job Purpose: The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Assistant is responsible to ensure implementing the Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) framework to ensure programme quality and accountability through efficient and effective collection, receipt, input and review of information relating to Concern’s on-going projects. The jobholder will be performing her/his responsibility through implementing MEAL activities in Concern’s programme locations in Türkiye. This will be done in line with Concern’s organizational strategies, policies and procedures as well as the project design. The jobholder will be responsible for the collection of monitoring information, managing Concern CRM, and performing their responsibility in collaboration with programme teams. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities: 

Programme Implementation: 

  • To support the monitoring and evaluation of the team through Post Distribution Monitoring (PDMs/PAMs), household visits, focus group discussions (FGDs), Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and other data collection methods as required. 

  • Effective participation in and implementation of needs assessments, baseline and end-line assessments, and other related tasks as required. 

  • To ensure CRM WhatsApp/Hotline calls and messages are responded timely and referrals are made to relevant programmes. 

  • To organize awareness-raising sessions for Concern beneficiaries on the Concern Code of Conduct and its associated policies and CRM. 

  • Provide field information for documenting learning for program quality improvement, and support the preparation of program performance reports. 

  • To ensure that beneficiaries, community members and other stakeholders are fully informed of concern accountability procedures and SOPs. 

  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of information collected by the M&E and program teams, and assist with the efficient processing and analysis of data. 

  • To communicate and coordinate cordially with the community and program teams, while being both understanding and evaluative of project implementation. 

  • To work as a part of the team; providing support where necessary in other administrative, information management or M&E tasks. 

Other: 

  • Support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct, and to be committed to provide a safe working environment. 

  •  Actively promote meaningful community participation and consultation at all stages of the project cycle (planning, implementation, M&E). 

  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that the Complaints and Response Mechanism (CRM) is functional and accessible, that feedback and complaints are welcomed and addressed. 

  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that information about CRM, safeguarding and expected staff behaviour is disseminated among programme participants and communities. 

  • Any other duties as assigned by the MEAL Officer/Manager. 

 

Minimum Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, development studies, sociology or relevant fields. 

  • At least one-year relevant experience in a similar position. 

  • Fluent in speaking and writing in Turkish, Arabic and Kurdish. 

  • Good understanding of the role and purpose of MEAL and accountability for humanitarian organizations. 

  • Good computer skills especially MS. Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Have the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
