Media Assistant

Shafak was officially established in 10-10-2013 (registration no. 27-016-129). It was founded during the early months of the Syrian Crisis in 2011. At its core, Shafak is a grassroots NGO that was formed by Syrians for Syrians, with the intent of addressing the needs of their life with dignity, equality and humanity with a focus on sustainability and autonomy.

Shafak is an impartial, independent, non-profit NGO that exists for the express purpose of providing humanitarian services to vulnerable people regardless of political or religious affiliations and on the long run to contribute to recover and rebuilding the society on freedom, justice and equality basis.

Role Purpose

As a Media assistant, you'll be responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product that's suitable for publishing and sharing. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics, special effects, managing the social media platforms and organizing the archive for the media department. This is a key role in the post-production process and your skills can determine the quality and delivery of the final product. You'll usually work closely with the director to achieve the desired final results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing the social media platforms
  • Organizing the archive for the media department.
  • Lead and guide the media team inside Syria regarding.
  • Preparing posts for media platforms.
  • Develop, implement and manage a media plan for ongoing projects.
  • Edit photos to include; creating color correct RAW product photography, correcting lens distortion, removing blemishes, cropping to fit standardized specifications and adding items to an image to create a realistic room setting. Maintain specifications and consistency across a large catalog.
  • Suggest new ideas that contribute to increase the quality of produced media materials.
  • Be proficient in organizing media, editing, archiving the media material.
  • Have quick response and ability to bearing work pressure.
  • Be able to work within a complementary creative team.
  • Perform other tasks requested by the direct manager.

Required Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop / illustrator
  • Advanced skills in Social media platforms.
  • Advanced skills in Archiving and files organizing.
  • Having at least two years’ experience in the field of media.
  • At least two years of previous experience in humanitarian work.
  • Strong analytical skills, proven problem solving-ability, and ability to develop and follow-through with creative solutions for design and development tasks.
  • Contribute to the development of digital media strategy, tactics, planning and process by applying continuous improvement methods. Evaluate and report on the practical application of new technologies appropriate to the area of responsibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English language.
  • Must be available for occasional after work hours or in weekend.
  • Living in or willing to move to Gaziantep.
