ROLE PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of the the  MHPSS and Community Engagement Officer, MHPSS & CE Assistant will be responsible for supporting psychosocial support activities for children, young people and adults, creating content, reporting and also responsible for general activities at Child Friendly Space at the office.
Under the overall guidance of the Project Manager, MHPSS & Community Engagement Coordinator and Community Engagement and MHPSS Officer,  MHPSS & CE Assistant will be responsible of the community based activities at the community level, delivery of the PSS kits to beneficiaries and making necessary documentation  in our Istanbul based project in Esenyurt.  S/he will also assist officers before/during/after Save the Children structured PSS activities and clubs with children, youth and adults. S/he will also help to ensure, in close cooperation and coordination with the programme manager, the Coordinator and the Officers, that the programme is implemented according to the technical requirements in the programme and will perform other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.

As part of these responsibilities the post holder will support the establishment of child safeguarding systems, promote a culture of keeping children safe, and ensure that potential harm to children (by our own staff and/or as a result of how we do our work) is identified and addressed on an ongoing basis. The post holder should report and respond to interventions as determined by position related responsibilities identified in the Child Safeguarding Policy.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

The key roles and responsibilities for the  Community Engagement and MHPSS Assistant are:

MHPSS ACTIVITIES: 
•    Support the project team and MHPSS & Community Engagement Officer on creating safe spaces for children and youth. 
•    Supporting to organize and deliver SCI’ structured psychosocial support activities such as Child and Youth Resilience Program, Parenting without Violence, PFA for Children targeting children, youth and adults.
•    Prepare or support the content development process for psychosocial support workshops and also for Child Friendly Space at the office by considering the vulnerabilities and needs of the groups, and ensure the adequate implementation of the existing content with the supervision of Community Engagement and MHPSS Officer.
•    Support the identification, assessment and profiling process of vulnerable children and youth, through resilience focused interventions or family information sessions.
•    Prepare visuals and materials suitable for the target group for the activities.
•    Organize information meetings tailored specifically for the needs of the target audience.
•    Follow up with the attendance of beneficiaries. 
•    Utilize appropriate methods to increase the wellbeing and resilience of participants in activities.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

•    Support the delivery of activities targeting community engagement 
•    Disseminate inclusive and accessible information about services and promote trust, support the identification process of those in need of further support, including undocumented individuals or those residing outside their city of registration, children with disabilities and boys and girls out of school, or who are at significant risk of dropping out.
•    Prepare messages using a variety of written, oral and visual means of communication to ensure a reach to persons with different vulnerabilities, abilities and needs, including those who are illiterate or who have a form of impairment. 
•    Support MHPSS & CE Officers to facilitate the establishment of Children, Youth and Caregivers Clubs, to stimulate development, recovery and wellbeing
•    Support the already existing Children’s and Youth Clubs in Esenyurt and also identify existing groups, clubs or local-level networks of girls and boys with the support from community engagement strategic analysis, as well as mobilize children, young people as well as their caregivers to form new clubs and committees where possible. 
•    Support clubs to develop initiatives to contribute  towards increasing protective factors in their communities
•    Deliver PSS kits and fill the identification & registration form via outreach.

COORDINATION 

•    Regularly record the necessary information to support the MEAL processes and share with the MEAL department when necessary.
•    Communicate with the local people & organize and participate in visits in the field in coordination with the officers and the coordinator.

GENERAL:

•    Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of child protection and sexual and gender-based violence and to encourage the continuation of the work carried out based on these principles.
•    Plan, organize and assist with the implementation of daily, weekly, monthly psychosocial support activities.
•    Report activity outputs to the  MHPSS and Community Engagement Officer regulary
•    Report feedbacks and complaints of the community to relevant departments within the organisation

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required 

Turkish nationality is a requirement for this position. 

•    Graduated from the relevant Social Sciences disciplines of universities (Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Child Development) or faculty of education (The Guidance and Psychological Counseling, Pre-School)
•    Has working experience in the field of migration and refugees
•    Experienced in working with vulnerable groups
•    Capacity and willingness to be flexible in difficult working circumstances
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office
•    Fluency in Arabic (Required)
•    Fluency in English (desirable)
•    Preferably has worked in a project in the NGO field
•    Establish effective communication with team members and project beneficiaries within the framework of human rights and respect
•    High communication and organization skills
•    Commitment to and understanding of child rights, the aims and principles of Save the Children, and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct. 
•    Commitment to upholding Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy, as well as principles of do no harm and confidentiality.
