Shafak was officially established in 10-10-2013 (registration no. 27-016-129). It was founded during the early months of the Syrian Crisis in 2011. At its core, Shafak is a grassroots NGO that was formed by Syrians for Syrians, with the intent of addressing the needs of their life with dignity, equality and humanity with a focus on sustainability and autonomy.

Shafak is an impartial, independent, non-profit NGO that exists for the express purpose of providing humanitarian services to vulnerable people regardless of political or religious affiliations and on the long run to contribute to recover and rebuilding the society on freedom, justice and equality basis.

Role Purpose

This person should devote part of his / her time for the project, will be MHgap supervisor for one doctor and 1 PSW Supervisor in technical matters in Syria (remotely or in the field).

Location:

HQ/Gaziantep

Reports to; Health Program Manager.

Supervision responsibility: MHGAP doctor, PSWs supervisor

Key areas of accountability and responsibilities:

  • Providing Technical supervision for the MHGAP doctors inside Syria with urgent and routine supervision sessions.
  • Providing Technical Supervision for PSWs and the field supervisor with urgent and routine supervision sessions.
  • Coaching and mentoring the field supervisor to develop his supervision skills.
  • Develop and oversee the referral systems, among the facilities and with other service providers.
  • Develop technical reporting forms to be used by MHGAP doctors and PSWs.
  • Provide technical inputs to the narrative and M&E reports of the project.

Required Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

  • Master’s degree in Mental Health or related field of study.
  • Had MHGAP TOT training.
  • Two years’ Experience in providing mental health supervision.
  • Three years’ experience in working MHPSS filed in Syrian Context
  • Excellent English and Arabic communication skills. Cultural Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of different sectors of the community.
