General Functions:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Ankara, Turkey, and the direct supervision of the Chief Migration Health Physician in IOM and under direct supervision of chief medical officer IOM Turkey, the incumbent should assist in execution of a range of health assessment, treatment, immunization, files clearance and storage and follow-up activities on behalf of IOM’s beneficiaries in Turkey.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform migration health assessments and complete related medical documentation of refugees selected for migration in accordance with the resettlement country’s Medical Examination Guidelines/Protocols for Immigrants and the IOM Migration Health Assessment Guidelines.
- Ensure and follow up in coordination with medical staff, data processing team and medical health unit, that the following activities are performed in accordance with the technical requirements of the resettlement countries:
- Medical case registration
- Medical treatment and follow up programs
- Data Processing and management
- Pre-embarkation medical examination of departing refugees
- Contribute to the analysis and technical elaboration of data gathered from the migration health assessment.
- Coordinate with the local/national health authorities, physicians, hospitals and laboratories, as needed.
- Assist in the preparation, design, analysis and implementation of research activities related to the migration health, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases.
- Assist in developing potential health and migration projects/programmes for the mission.
- Performing any other related duties that may be assigned by the direct supervisor.
- Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Medical doctor, Bachelor’s degree in medicine with valid medical licence to practice in Türkiye with four years of relevant professional experience; or,
- Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields with two years of relevant professional experience:
Experience:
- Minimum four years continuous clinical working experience, preferably with experience in Migration, Health field
Languages:
- Fluency in English and Turkish is required.
- Working knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
