Medecins du Monde Turkey (MDM-T) / Dünya Doktorları Dernegi (DDD) is a Turkish based humanitarian non-governmental organisation that facilitates access to healthcare for populations affected by armed conflict, violence, natural disasters, disease, famine, poverty and exclusion.

Our organization collaborates with partners and key stakeholders to implement projects that facilitate access to primary and secondary-level healthcare services to respond to the medical needs of displaced population.

Mission
Since 2015, DDD implements programs in both Turkey and Syria providing refugee and IDP communities with free access to healthcare services. DDD works with a range of humanitarian professionals and technical experts to provide Primary Healthcare (PHC), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)services as well as sexual and reproductive health (SRH).

Since the beginning of the Syria and Iraqi crises, Turkey has become host to over 3 million refugees, migrants and asylum seekers which led to an increasing demand for health services. In this context, DDD’s intervention aims to assist local public health systems in providing and improving access to health and health related services to vulnerable populations among refugees and migrants in Turkey, specifically in Hatay, Izmir and Istanbul. In Syria, DDD runs health facilities in Idlib and Afrin provinces to deliver health-related services to IDPs.

Hierarchical & Functional links
Pharmacists will be hired; one based in Idlib/Al Salam Clinic and one based in İdlib/MC Dier Hassan Clinic both in Syria. Pharmacists are under the line management of the Team leader.

Function Details
Dispensary
Dispense prescription medication or consumables to patients served in DDD health facility; with providing patients with information and education on their prescriptions.
Gather, organise, and assess patient information;
Supplies nurses with consumables;
Monitor prescription-filling process to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and pharmacy policies;
Liaise with healthcare providers and patients to obtain correct prescription information;

Stock management and Quality Control
Manage pharmaceutical stock using DDD pharma and stock management protocols and tools approved and adopted by the technical teams.
Receive the drugs and medical supplies needed in the supported health facility.
Work closely with the centre’s medical doctors and the team leader to order the drugs and consumables for the clinic on monthly basis and being responsible on making and justifying additional requests to avoid shortages and provide the technical specifications of required pharmaceutical items.
Ensure matching between the ordered items and the ones received from quantitative and qualitative perspectives.
For any shipment, check the expiry dates, packing conditions, manufacturer, country of origin, etc. and report any discrepancy to the Facility team leader and sign the required documents accordingly.
Keep pharmacy records and prescriptions until he sends it to the logistic warehouse.
Monitor the quality of storage and transportation conditions of the medical items of DDD stock as per good distribution and storage practices (GDSP) standards with particular attention to the items requiring cold chain (if any).
Support DDD Medical managers, team leaders and pharma supervisors in developing and/or adapting tools for pharmaceutical stock management.
In close coordination with DDD Logistic, update the pharmacy management assessment, whenever required.

Reporting
Fill/Update the daily and weekly consumption sheets and send it on weekly basis – and when needed – to the health facility team leader. Highlighting any changes in consumption, and raise flags for any potential shortages especially for the essential list of medications.
In charge of the bi- weekly medical inventory for all the drugs and consumables in the pharmacy (physical counts).
Close follow up on the consumption of the NCDs and MH medications, while including in the weekly reports and ensure following DDD recommended tools/ forms in terms of distribution.
Use DDD available updated tools in reporting and support the technical team in developing software tool while being used in the health facility.
Report any security related issues to the supervisor/team leader or to the Field Coordinator.
To perform any additional duties related to work requested by the supervisor.

Other related tasks
Participate in external meetings whenever requested by line manager.
Participate in internal work meetings and inform DDD team on logistic issues.
Support operational organisation of field trips and DDD activities.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of Dünya Doktorları Derneği and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within Dünya Doktorları Derneği and amongst beneficiaries served by Dünya Doktorları Derneği.

NB: considering the purpose and values of the organisation, DDD requests to its employee complete flexibility in term of duties and commitment, as their job description and job title can be adjusted throughout the year according to needs and priorities.

Knowledge & Qualification
Pharmacy certificate

Experience
Three year work with other NGOs

Languages
Required: Arabic (oral and written)
Preferred: English

IT & Equipment
Good proficiency with Microsoft package
