Procurement Assistant

Shafak was officially established in 10-10-2013 (registration no. 27-016-129). It was founded during the early months of the Syrian Crisis in 2011. At its core, Shafak is a grassroots NGO that was formed by Syrians for Syrians, with the intent of addressing the needs of their life with dignity, equality and humanity with a focus on sustainability and autonomy.
Shafak is an impartial, independent, non-profit NGO that exists for the express purpose of providing humanitarian services to vulnerable people regardless of political or religious affiliations and on the long run to contribute to recover and rebuilding the society on freedom, justice and equality basis.

Role Purpose
To support the effective operation of the SHAFAK Turkey- HQ Office and related programme activities by providing general procurement support, in accordance with SHAFAK procurement policies and procedures and relevant donor requirements.
Location: HQ/Gaziantep
Reports to: Reports to; Procurement Coordinator
Supervision responsibility: N/A
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- A clear understanding of the procurement policy and assistance in advising program and office management on required procurement practices and procedures
- Ensure that purchase limits and approval procedures are used appropriately.
- Work closely with the procurement team and suggest improvements
- Commitment to schedules and budget requirements for planned or new operations (data, cross-border procurement).
- Assist in tender procedures in Turkey.
- Collect offers from potential vendors for all practical operations and programs in Turkey.
- Buying goods with the optimum price and quality guarantee in the market.
- Archive the documents of the Procurement Section.
- Conducting market assessments when needed.
- Any other related duties upon the request of the supervisor.
- Provide regular report to Procurement Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- 1-2 years of experience in procurement operation
- Degree in Economy or Business Administration or any other related field desired.
- Turkish language is essential
- English language reading - and writing is essential.
- High computer skills
- A clear understanding of procurement ethics and donor compliance is essential
- Turkish Nationality
