Position:                             Program Officer Turkey– Turkish Nationality

Location:                            Gaziantep, Turkey

Reports to:                        Project Manager

Duration:                           12 months contingent on funding

Relief International is a registered NGO in Turkey and is based in Gaziantep to build capacities of Syrian communities to respond their needs in health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and education. Relief International is currently seeking candidates to be employed as Program Officer in Ankara and Istanbul as soon as possible.

 

Position Summary:         

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Officer provides efficient and effective support to the program assigned and collaboratively work with the rest of the team and all RI department in order to achieve Program objectives.

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in the implementation of the projects, in areas of mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, timely reporting, timely course correction, project closure, project assessments, and internal information sharing.
  • Assist in providing immediate knowledge and analysis of any potential misconduct or gap in field procedures with regard to operations and administration policies.
  • Support coordination at the national level with members of the Programs Management and other technical areas/functions.
  • Support professional and appropriate preparation and implementation of donor communications.
  • Contribute to routine monitoring and information gathering / sharing on milestones and progress of the program.
  • Supervise the Program Assistant and support capacity building and training needs of the Program Assistant, including performance evaluation.
  • Contribute to HQ-level and support field teams at the country level in ensuring  RI’s health program activities are coordinated with other humanitarian relief and development agencies to foster inter-agency information sharing, presence at interagency forums, representation and leadership by RI staff at cluster / sector forums, etc.
  • Represent RI in select matters with peer agencies, partner organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders on key topics, sectors, or country themes.
  • Contribute to country program strategies in partnership with strategy leadership provided by country teams; review development strategies with the Deputy Program Manager for revision and action.
  • Maintain awareness about international standards with regard to program design and implementation and humanitarian relief and development best practices.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment.

 

  • Educated to degree level with at least a Bachelor’s degree in relative field.
  • A minimum of 2 years working in NGO, programs.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with international development programming
  • Fluency in English and Turkish are essential, Arabic is a plus.
  • Excellent writing and research skills and high level of computer literacy.
  • Familiarity with INGO regulations and grants administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex activities, meet deadlines, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
  • Good administration skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task;
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment; Must be flexible, adaptable and willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
