General Functions:

Under the direct supervision of the MPM Programme Manager and under overall supervision of Emergency Coordinator, the Project Assistant will be responsible, of the following activities, according to the procedures and training provided by IOM: 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate the process of data collection performed by the team leaders and enumerators (field staff) throughout the provinces of responsibility.
  2. Collect, record and organize all forms/questionnaires and other relevant information handed over by the enumerators;
  3. Verify the information and accuracy of the data in the physical forms/questionnaire and clean it before processing it into IOM’s database system;
  4. Provide timely data entry of the forms/questionnaires and process them in IOM’s database system;
  5. Monitor the field staff adherence to agreed SOPs on data collection and deadlines as per IOM MPM guidelines per provinces of responsibility;
  6. Develop a monthly plan to cover all the sites that are expected to access within the geographical scope of work in coordination with the programme assistants in Ankara,
  7. To pursue field visits and contribute in submitting reports about the quality of the data that s/he receives from field staff, and submit reports to the programme assistants and programme coordinator,
  8. To accompany field teams in case there is an emergency mission to get the job done on time,
  9. Perform quality control and necessary correction of data collected in close coordination with the IM team,
  10. Examine and process data into simple forms in accordance with instructions and guidelines received;
  11. Ensure data is transferred in due time to relevant the focal points;
  12. Report on a daily basis on data processing activities to the MPM Programme Officer and make relevant recommendations;
  13. Participate in the revision of the tools and training of the enumerators, when needed;
  14. Ensure of proper archiving/saving of the data collected and of the maintenance of the equipment used in the field as per established procedures;
  15. Respect IOM’s Data Protection Principles;
  16. Perform any other duties assigned by MPM Programme Manager

 

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • University Diploma in Social Sciences
  • Three years of professional experience

 

Experience:

  • Experience in data/information management, preferably in natural disaster situations
  • Experience with International Organizations, INGO an advantage
  • Ability to verify, clean and process data
  • Computer knowledge use including Microsoft Office, Access, Google Earth and ability to use internet and email; 
  • Knowledge of Open Data Kit (ODK) applications and use of PDAs
  • Good knowledge of the geography of Turkey
  • Familiarity with mobile data collection technologies and GPS an advantage

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Turkish is required.
