General Functions:  

 

Under the overall supervision of Protection and Resilience Officer in Gaziantep and the direct supervision of National Officer (Protection Psychosocial Support) and in close coordination with Mobile PSS Team Leader, the incumbent will be responsible in conducting psychosocial animation intervention on the psychological level and refer them to experts in the team. Also, s/he will handle material preparations for family support sessions, recreational and right based activities for children, community mobilization, and awareness raising. Moreover, s/he will organize support groups and forums for affected population and potentially host community.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Conduct psychosocial animation sessions to the affected Syrian displaced population 
  2. Identify cases that require intervention on the psychological level and refer them to the team’s psychologist.
  3. Positively interact with the refugees, youth and children and encourage them to express their needs and ensure their safety.
  4. Assist in preparing materials needed for family support sessions, recreational and rights-based activities for children, community mobilization, awareness sessions and informal education activities.
  5. Coordinate with the team members as to integrating referred cases within the psychosocial animation groups.
  6. Provide psychosocial first aid to the affected population in case of sudden/on-going emergency.
  7. Prepare reports on the sessions conducted and map existing needs
  8. Organize support groups and forums for the Syrian displaced population and potentially the host community
  9. Raise awareness on the services that will be provided by IOM mobile PSS team and the dates of the visits.
  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

 

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education:

 

  • University degree in psychology, social work, social sciences, mental health, sociology, theatre or cultural animation a related field from accredited academic institution, with two years of relevant professional experience; or;
  • High School Certificate in above field with four years of relevant professional work experience.

 

Experience:

 

  • Experiences in psychosocial support activities in emergencies;
  • Experience in facilitating group psychosocial support activities;
  • Proven strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

 

Languages:

 

  • Fluency in Arabic and Turkish is required.
  • Knowledge of English is advantageous.

In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
