General Functions:

Under the overall supervision of the Protection and Resilience Officer and direct supervision of the Project Field Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible in providing socio-cultural activity services on the above-mentioned project. In addition, the incumbent will support  the project implementation of the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Ensar Community Centre in close cooperation with IOM Turkey programme teams.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Identify needs for migrants and host communities in regard to social activities, social cohesion, and psycho-social wellbeing, contribute designing activities in coordination with counsellors, interpreters and program team, create weekly and monthly activity plan on a timely manner, announce the activities relevant stakeholders and IOM units such as M&E, PI and other unit.
  2. Refer people who has special needs to the relevant counselling unit, report internal and external referrals in the reports,
  3. Organize  social and cultural workshops for adults and make sure that the all activities run smoothly,
  4. Organize awareness raising sessions and trainings for adult migrants and refugees and assist in making sure that the trainings run smoothly,
  5. Participate relevant field visits undertaken by the Ensar Community Center (” Centre”) and/or organize field visits if required,
  6. Collect requests for adult migrants and refugees in accessing social and cultural and psychosocial activities and conduct focus group discussions while planning future activities. 
  7. Regularly report migrants and refugees’ common problems and needs in access to cultural, psychosocial, and social activities as well as sustainability and quality of these activities,
  8. Meet and liaise with relevant local public authorities and civil society organizations to improve access to social and cultural activities for migrants and refugees,
  9. Conduct social and educational activities in cooperation with relevant NGO’s and public institutions.
  10.  Work closely with childcare room facilitator, counsellors, interpreters and program team of the Centre,
  11. Report challenges and progress recorded in realization of activities and duties,
  12. Provide necessary information, feedbacks, documentation regarding the development of IOM internal procedures and in center work flow.
  13. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • University degree in Psychology, Social and/or Political Science, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Completed High school degree from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Turkish is required.
  • Working knowledge in Arabic is advantageous.

In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
