General Functions:

IOM Turkey is operating in a complex migration environment. The country is hosting over 4 million of migrants and refugees under various administrative status. IOM Turkey supported developing migrant integration policy and is implementing capacity building programs aiming at social cohesion of migrants in the country and strengthening the capacity of authorities at central and local levels. The incumbent under the direct supervision of the National program Officer and the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator will support the implementation and further development of the migrant integration portfolio in the Department for Migration Management of IOM Turkey.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. The incumbent will be responsible for the social media activities and inputs.
  2. Actively using social media like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and ability to analyse
  3. Following the press and the agenda closely
  4. Social media presence
  5. Ability to scan the social media and news for  especially 7/24
  6. Good command on Adobe programs(photoshop, indesign,etc.)
  7. This position works under the direct supervision of a Senior Project Assistant (G7)
  8. Personnel to be assigned within the scope of the project will generally work at DGMM for 4 days and at the IOM office for 1 day
  9. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
  10. Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
  11. Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information. 
  12. Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
  13. Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest remedial actions.
  14. Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.
  15. Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organize meetings, workshops and training sessions;
  16. Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project. 
  17. Assist in monitoring work of implementing partners and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
  18. Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff.
  19. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education and Experience:

  • School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Turkish and English is required.
