Position Title: Project Assistant
Duty Station: Adana -Turkey
Classification: 6 months Special Short Term Graded Contract –with possible extension (G5)

General Functions: 

Under the overall supervision of Senior Programme Coordinator (Refugee Response) and direct supervision of the National Project Officer (MA and MM) based in Gaziantep and with close coordination with the National Program Officer (Integration and Social Cohesion) based in Ankara,the incumbent will be responsible in providing support in project implementation, monitoring and reporting on the above mentioned project. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible in the project coordination of the Adana Metropolitan Municipality Migrant Center in close cooperation with IOM Turkey programme teams (integration, social cohesion and refugee response).


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the project team in implementing activities of the project “Provision of integrated services and promotion of social cohesion through a municipal migrant and refugee center in Adana” and if needed support other integration related activities, projects
  2. Support implementation of activities of the project(s) under direct coordination of the project field coordinator, head of IOM sub-office and national program officer, assist day to day activities and administrative processes; report regularly on the challenges and progress recorded in realization of activities,
  3. Assist with the planning, organisation and logistical arrangement of conferences, seminars, trainings and workshops as relevant,
  4. Support resource management of the project(s) via assisting procurement of services, supplies, equipment and of payments; follow up project expenditures in close coordination with the Finance and Procurement Department,
  5. Assist preparation of analytical notes of meetings, briefing notes, policy papers, and other materials as required
  6. Support drafting of project interim and final reports in a timely manner, as well as other relevant information materials as required for the authorities, donors and IOM.
  7. Meet and liaise with the beneficiary, local and international counterparts.
  8. Regularly research, follow-up, compile, analyze and share information/data on national, regional and international developments, reports, legislation and other relevant documentation on migration relevant to work of IOM Turkey, noting and highlighting noteworthy issues and proposing actions especially in the field of integration.
  9. Translate daily correspondences and project related documents, reports if requested by the team members.
  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.


Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • University degree in Law, Social and/or Political Science, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Completed High school degree from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience:

Knowledge on integration and relevant national/international policies is an asset;

Experience on project development and management is asset;

Willing and being able to travel;

Experience working in the region is an advantage;

Proven analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills,

Good level of computer literacy;

Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national / international institutions.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Turkish is required.

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
