Position:                                                          Project Manager (Orphans) – Gaziantep

Project:                                                            Managing QFFD funded orphans support project

Base Location:                                               Gaziantep, with frequent field visits to Syria.

Reporting To:                                                 Social Welfare Coordinator

Contract Duration:                                        One year with possibility of extension.

Position Summary:

As the Project Manager for the Orphans Support Project, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project implementation, coordination, and management. Working closely with the project team, partners, and stakeholders, you will ensure the successful execution of project activities in accordance with project goals, timelines, and budgets. This role involves managing the cross-border mechanism between Turkey and Syria, with regular field visits to Syria for monitoring and coordination purposes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and effective implementation of project activities, monitoring progress against set objectives.
  • Lead and supervise project staff, providing guidance, support, and mentorship as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative and cohesive team environment, promoting open communication and accountability.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations, donors, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Share regular project updates, reviews and reports with the line manager, donor, and other relevant stakeholders as per the agreed timelines.
  • Coordinate with the field staff and implementing partner for ensuring that all the project related risks are regularly reviewed, re-identified, and amicably addressed; regularly updating the management accordingly.
  • Timely respond to the feedback shared by the MEAL Department while sharing the rectification measures taken to address the identified gaps. Ensuring that high level of integrity, transparency and quality-sensitive attitude is consistently demonstrated in this process. 
  • Conduct periodic project reviews with the field teams/IP on monthly and quarterly basis and to stay updated on the project performance and progress while settling the issues as and when required.
  • Coordinate closely with local authorities and community leaders to ensure alignment and support for project activities.
  • Oversee project budgeting, financial reporting, and expenditure tracking, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
  • Develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track project progress and outcomes.
  • Conduct regular field visits to project sites in Syria to monitor implementation, identify challenges, and provide support as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including data, reports, and correspondence.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges to project implementation and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal, ethical, and safety standards throughout project activities.
  • To comply with any other organizational policy, approach, decision and to perform any other task assigned by the line manager or by the QC.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, Project Management, Social Sciences).
  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) in project management, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, cross-border operations, and working in complex environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, timelines, and multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Fluency in both oral and written English and Arabic is essential; Turkish will be of high advantage.

  • Experience working in the Syria context or similar conflict-affected settings is highly desirable.
