About NSPPL:

The National Syrian Project for Prosthetic Limbs (NSPPL) was established in 2013 in Reyhanli, southern Turkey, by a group of Syrians in response to those affected by the war in Syria and in need of prosthetic limbs. NSPPL is the first non-profit of its kind in Northern Syria and Turkey to support amputees recuperate and integrate into a self-sufficient autonomous lifestyle.

Position Summary.

Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer will support the overall day-to-day management of the project assigned collaborating with program team, support departments and NSPPL’s partners.

Key Responsibilities and Duties.

Project Management

  • Support the Project Coordinator in planning, monitoring and implementing the assigned project.
  • Support the Project Coordinator in ensuring activities are in line with the approved project proposal, budget and implementation plan.
  • Support the continuous supervision and monitoring of project activities, regularly evaluating progress of the outputs and targets and recommend corrective actions in coordination to the Project Coordinator to mitigate any delay in implementation.
  • Preparing/raising procurement requests (PRs) as needed based on project procurement plan/spend down plan.
  • Drafting of donor narrative reports and other internal program reports.
  • With support from the Project Coordinator, lead the coordination with municipalities and governmental stakeholders involved in the project implementation.
  • Line managing the case management CM team and the technical teams.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as requested by the management.

Partnership Management

  • Support NSPPL’s partners to develop and track detailed work plans, budgets and spend down plans to ensure accuracy of action.
  • Work with NSPPL’s partners to achieve agreed targets and activities and build and maintain healthy relationship with them.
  • Conduct weekly follow up with partners and provide inputs to the Project Coordinator to inform about the weekly progress.
  • Conduct initial review of financial and technical reports, in collaboration with other relevant departments (Grants/Finance/M&E/HR/Operation).
  • Conduct initial revision of financial documentation, budget versus actual (BVA), issues letters, etc. and provide inputs to Project Coordinator for further action.
  • Ensure the project deliverables are being received on time from departments including the monthly reporting packs, in addition to the relevant review and follow up processes.

Communication and Coordination

  • Develop and maintain regular and transparent supportive communication structures
  • Under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, participate in project unit’s meetings and any other internal/external meeting related to the project.
  • Represent NSPPL in coordination meetings as per line manager and/or management request.
  • Develop and maintain strong transparent relationship with the municipalities and other authorities in the project locations as needed.
  • Facilitate the communications with municipalities and governmental stakeholders in regards to NSPPL’s program activities.
  • Lead and facilitate the regular internal and external coordination meetings relevant to the project.
  • Other related tasks that may from time to time.

Experience and skills required for the role.

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum two-three years of experience in project management, preferably in health-related programs.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with donor regulations (ECHO, BPRM, USAID, etc.)
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is a must, Turkish is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently
  • Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, and ability to think critically and creatively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience and diplomacy
  • Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
  • Report writing.
  • Knowledge of database management and good command of MS Office.
