Founded in Çeşme, Turkey in 2012 Imece was created with the intention of supporting the local community but had to shift focus at the start of the “European Refugee Crisis”.
Now based in Izmir, IMECE as a non-profit organization, is supporting displaced people in Turkey in access to school for migrant children, training in solar engineering, access to electricity on the roads of exile.
In response of the earthquake, IMECE is now leading an emergency response in Malatya and Adiyaman areas.
To implement mental health support, IMECE is looking for a psychologist:
Main Purpose
Providing psychological support to patients via psychological support and psychotherapy sessions, following medical and mental health IMECE protocols and procedures, in order to improve the patients’ mental health.
Accountabilities
-Carrying out clinical assessment of mental health needs of patients and a plan of treatment collaboratively with the patient. Informing the patients and/or their relatives about the mental health condition of the patient and referring patients to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient's condition
-Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients according to IMECE protocols in order to improve their mental health conditions
-Implementing the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible victims of SGBV and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment.
-Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of MH activities.
-Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities
-Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective
-Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential.
Education |
Essential degree or diploma in Psychology (or Psychological Counseling and Guidance) |
Experience |
Essential 2 years’ experience minimum as a psychologist. Experience with NGO desirable. |
Languages |
Essential: Turkish (native level) English (fluent in spoken and written), Desirable: Kurdish, Arabic, Farsi. |
