About Concern:Concern Worldwide is anon-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern has been working in Turkey since August 2013 and currently looking for aqualified Psychologist to work with children.

Job Purpose:The position will be based in Sanliurfa, with 50% travel to field locations including Sanliurfa, Adiyaman, and Malatya provinces. The Psychologist will support Concern’s Psycho-social Support Programme for children, providing support to the PSS Facilitators, identifying children who require further support and referring children who require further MHPSS services. Under the supervision of the Education Manager and in close liaison with Education Coordinator the Protection Team, the Psychologist will have the following duties and responsibilities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Technical support to PSS Facilitators in Concern’s Protection Hubs 

·        Referrals of children to psychiatrist and other MHPSS services when necessary

·        Filling in psychological assessment and incident reports

·        Preparation of files concerning the individual counselling services offered for asylum-seekers and refugees and conduct of the necessary follow-ups in an adequate manner.

·        Conducting researches and evaluations in order to generate resources to assist asylum-seekers and refugees – particularly, medical care, education, etc.

·        Facilitation of coordination with the government institutions

·        Contributing to the preparation of project proposals on the basis of evaluations

·        Providing assistance in the preparation of reports and statistics in an adequate manner, when necessary

·        Contribute to the establishment of preventive measures to reduce the potential for abuse in Concern programme.

·        Collaborate with the education team to support children enrolled in Concern’s PSS and education programmes.

·        Any other duties as agreed with the Line Manager.

Other tasks

·    Contribute to organisational accountability initiatives, including overseeing the roll out of commitments of Concern under the HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership).

·        Support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to their team, beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment.

·        Support emergency response programming for Concern as and when requested.

Person Specification

Minimum Education, Qualifications & Experience Required: 

·        Degree in Psychology

·        3 years of experience providing MHPSS services to children

·        Experience working with children affected by crisis and conflict

·        Experience collaborating with education sector to ensure children’s well being

·        Good command of spoken Turkish and Arabic

·        Previous experience in a similar position in an NGO in Turkey or Syria will be an asset

Preference will be given to candidates who are:

·        English language skills are highly preferable

·        Motivated and ability to work in a cross-cultural team

·        Excellent communication skills (including active listening)

·        Positive attitude and willingness to learn

·        Ability to work independently and take initiative

·        Commitment to humanitarian principles

·        Ability to work in a systematic and organized manner and to have reporting skills

·        Good understanding use of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access,Outlook, PowerPoint)

·       To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct
