Medecins du Monde Turkey (MDM-T) / Dünya Doktorları Derneği (DDD) is a Turkish based humanitarian non-governmental organisation that facilitates access to healthcare for populations affected by armed conflict, violence, natural disasters, disease, famine, poverty and exclusion.

Our organization collaborates with partners and key stakeholders to implement projects that facilitate access to primary and secondary-level healthcare services to respond to the medical needs of displaced population.
DDD is the 16th member of the Doctors of the World International Network that is committed to meeting the health needs of vulnerable people globally.

Since 2015, DDD implements programs in both Turkey and Syria providing refugee and IDP communities with free access to healthcare services. DDD works with a range of humanitarian professionals and technical experts to provide Primary Healthcare (PHC), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services as well as sexual and reproductive health (SRH).

Since the beginning of the Syria and Iraqi crises, Turkey has become host to over 3 million refugees, migrants and asylum seekers which led to an increasing demand for health services. In this context, DDD’s intervention aims to assist local public health systems in providing and improving access to health and health related services to vulnerable populations among refugees and migrants in Turkey, specifically in Hatay, Izmir and Istanbul. In Syria, DDD runs health facilities Afrin provinces and Idlib to deliver health-related services to IDPs.

Hierarchical & Functional links
Based in Istanbul, the Social Media Assistant will work under the responsibility of the Communication and Liaison Manager.

Status: Fixed-Term Contract (6 Months - with possible extension)
Expected Starting Date: ASAP

Essential Duties
Work in close conjunction with the Communication and Liaison Manager, contribute to the development of social media strategies and policies and takes the lead in their implementation; develops and implements social media guidelines, systems, procedures, and tools; and provides expert reporting, analytics, and advice to increase visibility, awareness, understanding and support for DDD’s mandate, vision, corporate objectives, activities, and programs.
Responsible for managing DDD’s corporate social media accounts and collaborates regularly with colleagues across the Centre to ensure content aligns with strategic priorities.
Responsible for social media research (practices and trends); analytics, overall reporting, monitoring, analyzing and reporting on comments and conversations on DDD as well as external social media sites; live tweeting and responding to inquiries/comments. Although social media is the primary focus, the Officer may also develop, use, and implement other new media (e.g. interactive media, multi-media, etc.) as required.
Other related tasks

Research social media communication trends, best practices, policies, procedures, and accessibility in both the NGO, private and public sectors. Identifies and assesses potential opportunities for DDD to use social media tools to enhance the scope, versatility and breadth of communication; and makes recommendations for their integration at DDD.
Contribute, with the Communication and Liaison Manager, to the development of DDD’s social media strategy and policy and takes the lead for their implementation. The development of DDD’s social media strategy and policy taking the lead for implementation. Develops, proposes and implements social media guidelines, procedures, templates, tools, reporting methodologies, standards, retention schedules in compliance with DDD policies.
Monitors, reviews, and analyses comments and conversations on DDD’s social media sites and also on external social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc. to identify insights, emerging trends, risks and impact on DDD, looking for opportunities for engagement. Liaises and consults with colleagues for appropriate actions.
Develops recommendations on how to respond to complex and sensitive social media inquiries and issues and reviews them with Communications management. Advises management on recommended approaches and potential repercussions. Responds to all inquiries/comments and/or coordinating with appropriate division, programs, etc. for response/action.
Create (i.e. write short original content), edit, and post multi-media content on social media sites, including video dissemination on YouTube Channel or on website, and for distribution to external stakeholders; maintains all social media platforms for DDD; and, ensures timeliness and quality of all activities given their visibility to the public. Consults with internal and external stakeholders (MdM network communication coordination team) when targeting events for which social media will be used and carries out live tweeting where appropriate.
Generates, monitors, gathers, and interprets analytics, conducts preliminary analysis, and reports on the effectiveness and influence of DDD’s social media communications tools for reaching and engaging target audiences and on key performance indicators.
Contributes to Corporate Communications strategic and operational plan as well as Public Affairs projects by providing expert advice, producing social media content, conducting consultations or research in the development and implementation of strategies, policies, guidelines, procedures, analytics, summary reports, and activities. Also may supervise work of consultants or third part contractors.
Work with copywriters and designers to ensure content is informative and appealing.

Provide reporting on regular activities to the Line-Manager
Contribute to monthly reporting done to DDD Management;

Other tasks
Provide a mission report and/or handover document at the end of contract.
Any other related DDD tasks as assigned by supervisor/line manager.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within Dünya Doktorları Derneği and amongst beneficiaries served by Dünya Doktorları Derneği.

Expected Profile
Knowledge & Qualification
BSc degree in Marketing or relevant field
1 year of experience as a Social Media Specialist or similar role
Required: Turkish and English (oral and written)
Preferred: French (oral and written)
IT & Equipment
Good proficiency with Microsoft package
Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and other social media best practices
Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics
Familiarity with web design and publishing
General Qualities required:
Social Media Strategist using social media for brand awareness and impressions
Experience with doing audience and buyer persona research
Good understanding of social media KPIs
Excellent multitasking skills
Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
Team player
Good time-management skills
Great interpersonal and communication skills
