Quarterly-monthly staff wellbeing sessions, separately organized for Ankara-based field staff, Mersin/Hatay based field staff and Şanlıurfa /Hatay based field staff, for 6 months


2.  Organizational Background

MSYD-ASRA, is a non-governmental and humanitarian aid organisation which mainly aims at meeting basic needs and improving living conditions of the individuals and communities who are affected by humanitarian crisis, conflicts, human rights violations and natural disasters.


MSYD-ASRA continues its works at national and international level within principles of non-discrimination, transparency, impartiality, and accountability, according to the international standards of humanitarian privacy.  MSYD-ASRA has a role in enhancing living conditions of crisis affected individuals and communities through activities and emergency responses carried out at national and international level.


MSYD-ASRA, by carrying out field studies which regularly analyse the conditions of crisis affected people, and publishing situation reports; directs the attention of relevant organisations to crisis regions.


MSYD-ASRA, pursuant to the principles of non-discrimination, transparency, impartiality and accountability, adopts direct and quick response to the crisis affected individuals and communities, as the main principle.


3  Responsibilities &  Tasks: 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver 1 or 2-days long staff self-care trainings to staff members of local partners located in different cities of Turkey (1- Ankara based field staff, 2- Mersin/Hatay based field staff and 3-Urfa/Hatay based field staff in order to sensitize them about their personal and organizational stress factors and the signs of burn-out, compassion fatigue and secondary trauma as well as how to avoid them.
  • Produce min required MEAL tools i.e. satisfaction and session evaluation forms, and post-training and post-group sessions reports including all materials used and any significant findings/outcomes from the trainings and group sessions.
  • Produce a recommendation report to outline clear actions plans for the identified gaps and challenges

Core Responsibilities


2.1.         Preparation

  • Liaising and meeting with the MHPSS Technical team to finalize the agenda and review logistics
  • Preparing and reviewing session plans, including all necessary PowerPoint files and hand-outs.
  • Submitting the training agenda and session plans to MHPSS Technical team in line with the timetable indicated below.

2.2.         Delivery

Throughout this period, the quality and maintenance of the learning environment is a main responsibility of the lead facilitator. This includes:

  • Timely and professional delivery of activities
  • Facilitating a set of sessions that meets participants’ expectations
  • Establishing an ethic of professionalism, fun and quality improvement

Prepare and deliver an interactive curriculum rich in practical examples in Turkey, role plays and learning by doing, inclusive of:

  • Importance of Self-Care
  • Recognizing secondary/vicious trauma in ourselves and our colleagues
  • Signs of burnout and actions to take against
  • Screening and assessing ourselves to address the risks and stressful situations in humanitarian work
  • Any topic identified as a learning need when preparing the tailored curriculum

2.3.         Reporting

  • Following the delivery of the training, production of report, inclusive of:
  • All materials used in the delivery of the training (guidance notes, activities, worksheets, presentations, etc.)
  • Significant findings/outcomes resulting from the training and recommendations
  • Feedback from participants (forms to be completed by participants)


4 Deliverables and Tentative Timetable for Consultancy:

The consultancy will be of a total duration of 6 months (including preparation and reporting).

Final Reporting – with recommendations



  1. Required Skills/Qualifications:
  • Mental health professional with MA/S or equivalent in clinical psychology, clinical social work – with knowledge of human rights, international development, public health or other relevant field
  • 3+ years professional work experience with NGOs in programs and MHPSS related departments, with professional experience implementing and/or training in Staff Wellbeing;
  • Expert knowledge on Self-care in humanitarian NGOs with regards to emergency contexts and refugees/displaced people;
  • Experience and expert knowledge in Self-care and staff care activities, enriched with tools and materials;
  • Experience in developing and delivering training of NGOs; experience in developing and delivering training on stress management and other coping skills for humanitarian workers is preferred.
