ROLE PURPOSE:

Shafak Organization is seeking a passionate and skilled Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Assistant to join our team in Turkey. The GBV and Safety Audit Officer will play a critical role in our efforts to provide high-quality survivor centered case-management services to survivors of Gender Based Violence to mitigate the effects of GBV on individuals, and contribute to the prevention, reduction of GBV and to provide case-management services to people at risk, and to mitigate the negative of effects protection issues on individuals and contribute to the improvement of the overall protective environment.

Supervision responsibility: GBV Case workers

Budget responsibility: (amount per year is applicable)  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and receive referrals for GBV survivors and provide tailored GBV case management, ensuring safety, confidentiality, and consent.
  • Assist in risk assessments and referrals to essential services such as healthcare, psychosocial support, and legal aid.
  • Facilitate GBV awareness-raising sessions and outreach campaigns.
  • Support legal aid access by coordinating with the legal officer and providing Assistant with legal data intake.
  • Assist with psychosocial support (PSS) data intake and documentation.
  • Facilitate GBV case documentation, ensuring proper filing and maintenance of confidential records.
  • Coordinate with service providers and follow up on action plans for individual cases.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of PSS awareness sessions and focus group discussions (FGDs).
  • Maintain regular updates of the GBV case management database and trackers.
  • Ensure communication with beneficiaries to inform them of available services and empower them to make informed decisions.
  • Ensure referrals to necessary services are timely and accompanied where needed.
  • Follow work plans and case management guidelines.
  • Participate in protection and GBV mainstreaming activities across other sectors.
  • Perform any additional duties as required by the line manager to support GBV case management and Assistant efforts in the Turkey program.
  • Represent Shafak Organization in relevant forums, conferences, and meetings to advocate for the rights of survivors and promote GBV prevention initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • University Degree in gender studies, law and women’s rights, sociology, cultural studies, public health, demography, international relations, international law, or other related field.
  •  1 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in areas relevant to GBV prevention and response programs, preferably in humanitarian or development setting.
  • Strong understanding of gender dynamics, human rights principles, and international frameworks related to GBV.
  • Demonstrated skills in communication, and training and mentoring to GBV and non-GBV specialists in GBV.
  • Fluency in Arabic and Turkish. Knowledge of is English an asset.
  •   Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  •  Commitment to Shafak Organization's mission and values, including gender equality, social justice, and human rights.
  • Turkish Citizenship.
  • Living in Reyhanlı is preferable.
