JOB ADVERTISEMENT – Livelihood Assistant

SCI employ approximately 25,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 100 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and child protection. CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.
 

ROLE PURPOSE: 

The post will work on the project to improve the integration, resilience, psychosocial well-being, and economic self-sufficiency of economically vulnerable refugees and host community youth (18 – 35 years old) in Istanbul. By strengthening the capacity and quality of local municipal services through training, additional human resources, and other capacity-building/sharing initiatives, the project seeks to create sustainable local change in the provision of inclusive services for both communities. The Livelihood Assistant will support the implementation of livelihood activities aimed at increasing the self-sufficiency and employability of refugees and host community member youth in Istanbul(with field visits to neighboring districts). This includes conducting outreach to beneficiaries, facilitating Skills to Succeed (S2S) training, assisting with job placement services, and providing administrative support for monitoring and reporting project activities. The Livelihood Assistant will work closely with the MHPSS Officer, and other project staff to ensure the successful delivery of project outcomes under the supervision of the Livelihoods Officer.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

The key roles and responsibilities of the Livelihood Assistant are:

  • Assist in identifying and registering beneficiaries for project activities.
  • Support in preparing and updating the CV pool for registered beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate with local NGOs, municipalities, and stakeholders to ensure proper outreach and engagement of targeted beneficiaries.
  • Support in organizing and facilitating Skills to Succeed (S2S) training for youth participants, including logistical arrangements and communication with beneficiaries.
  • Provide guidance to beneficiaries and facilitate Job placement services
  • Provide and disseminate information and counseling on self-employment licensing and licensing procedures for entrepreneurs
  • Assist in conducting individual MHPSS and group awareness-raising sessions when needed.
  • Assist with job placement services by coordinating with employers and maintaining the CV pool.
  • Follow up with beneficiaries on job placement progress and track their employment outcomes.
  • Act as a translator during field visits and sessions when necessary (Turkish and Arabic).
  • Ensure that beneficiaries are informed about project activities, job opportunities, and training schedules in a timely manner.
  • Assist in collecting data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, including attendance sheets, feedback surveys, and beneficiary follow-up forms.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of beneficiary data to the Livelihoods Officer and other project staff.
  • Support the engagement with local businesses and private sector actors to increase job placement opportunities for beneficiaries.
  • Maintain positive relationships with local authorities and ensure smooth collaboration on project activities.
  • Refer the project beneficiaries to other services of local government offices or other local actors for further development Maintain confidentiality when translating incident reports, case studies, and cases.
  • Adhere to Confidentiality and Do No Harm principles throughout services.
  • Demonstrate respect and professional standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • University degree and relevant experience in providing livelihood services
  • Excellent proficiency in Turkish and Arabic with good writing and editing skills,
  • At least 1 years of experience in the livelihood, youth empowerment, or refugee support programs in Development or Humanitarian field. 
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating training or awareness sessions.
  • Experienced in working with vulnerable groups
  • Experienced in outreach activities
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Good IT skills (i.e. Windows and MS Office programs)
  • Multitasking and time management skill
  • Knowledge on Zeytinburnu, Esenyurt, Küçükçekmece and neighbouring districts is an advantage
  • Experience in working with municipalities and other government officials will be an asset

 

Position holder will be based in Istanbul, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
