ONSUR works through the main officelocated in Gaziantep province Turkey, in addition to execution offices in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, andTurkey.

Job Summery

The Program Officer is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring program activities to achieve organizational goals effectively. This role involves conducting needs assessments, developing work plans, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organizational standards. The Program Officer will liaise with stakeholders, oversee reporting and documentation, and support capacity-building initiatives to strengthen program impact. By ensuring high-quality delivery and continuous improvement, the Program Officer plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission and ensuring positive outcomes for beneficiaries.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Implementation:
    • Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of protection programs in accordance with organizational strategies and donor requirements.
    • Ensure activities align with protection principles, including confidentiality, neutrality, and do-no-harm approaches.
  2. Needs Assessment and Analysis:
    • Conduct field assessments to identify protection risks and needs, focusing on vulnerable groups such as children, women, and persons with disabilities.
    • Analyze data to develop evidence-based interventions.
  3. Capacity Building:
    • Provide training and technical support to staff, partners, and community members on protection principles, child safeguarding, and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention.
    • Develop materials and tools to enhance awareness and skills in protection programming.
  4. Coordination and Advocacy:
    • Collaborate with local authorities, community stakeholders, and partner organizations to ensure effective program delivery.
    • Advocate for the rights and safety of vulnerable populations in coordination forums and relevant networks.
  5. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
    • Monitor program activities and ensure alignment with targets and indicators.
    • Prepare and submit timely, accurate reports to donors and management, highlighting achievements and challenges.
  6. Case Management and Referrals:
    • Oversee protection case management systems, ensuring proper documentation and referrals to appropriate services.
    • Maintain confidentiality and ensure beneficiary-centered approaches in handling sensitive cases.
  7. Compliance and Accountability:
    • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, donor guidelines, and international protection standards.
    • Support the implementation of accountability mechanisms, including feedback and complaints systems.

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department's organizational chart.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human rights, international relations, or a related field
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in protection programming, preferably in humanitarian settings.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of protection principles, case management, and GBV prevention. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Language: Fluency in [Specify languages required, e.g., Arabic and English].
  • Competencies: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure in challenging environments.

Personal Abilities and Skills

  • Very good presentation and communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with people of all backgrounds, and excellent relationship-building skills.
  • MS Office proficiency ( Word, Excel)
