General Functions:

  Under the overall supervision of the Recovery and Stabilization Officer and direct supervision by the Senior Project Assistant (RIF) in collaboration with the Project Support Officer (CS) based in Gaziantep, the incumbent will be responsible in coordinating and following up community stabilization related activities in the Resilience Innovation Facilities / Fab-Labs located in Gaziantep.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:           

  1. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities under the RIF / Fablab project portfolio in line with community stabilization technical tools, including planning and organization of events, hackathons, innovation challenges, and workshops; as well as entrepreneurship and innovation training and vocational training activities.
  2. Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics related to community stabilization, social cohesion, innovation opportunities, digital transformation, sustainability, and employability; as well as assist in the mapping of service providers for Fablab activities such as tailored training in the areas of business development, computer literacy, innovation, digital skills, marketing, and digital fabrication.
  3. Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.
  4. Act as focal point for the documentation of the beneficiaries at the RIF, including facilitating appropriate selection of RIF project beneficiaries by registering applicants using specific criteria; facilitating orientation meetings, business trainings, and/or one-to-one counselling sessions; and conducting satisfaction and feedback surveys.
  5. Act as focal point for administrative coordination of RIF project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
  6. Draft status reports for all RIF activities, identifying shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest remedial actions.
  7. Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.
  8. Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project to scale-up RIF activities and strengthen linkages with a global community of learners, educators, technologists, researchers, makers and innovators.
  9. Assist in monitoring work of implementing partners and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Business Administration, Information Management, Innovation, Sustainability or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.
  • High school diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in project implementation
  • Experience of community stabilization, social cohesion, and challenge-based innovation activities
  • Experience conducting market mapping or assessments
  • Strives to achieve high-quality work and outcomes; analyses and finds creative solutions to problems.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. Excellent IT skills (Google documents, Google mail, Excel and Word)
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Good organizational and administrative skills
  • Knowledge of electronic survey tools (Kobo)

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Turkish is required.
  • Working knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.

In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
