ABOUT US:

Karam Evi Derneği was founded in 2017 with a mission to support refugees build their new lives in Turkey and become positive contributors to society. Through our innovative approach to aid and programming, we help all members of the family with support tailored to the needs of each generation. We provide financial stipends on the condition that parents send their children back to school as well as awareness of life skills, a space for youth to create and innovate, one-on-one coaching, scholarships for college students, and much more. Our goal is to highlight the collective shared culture and values between refugees and the Turkish community and to encourage, support, and develop a generation that gives back to society. We are on a mission to grow 10,000 Leaders by 2028. 

 

About Karam Families:

Karam Families prevents child labor and child marriage by providing comprehensive financial and social support to vulnerable Syrian refugee families, ensuring that  children remain in school and families progress toward self-sufficiency. Karam Families’ empowers Syrian refugee families in Turkiye through a holistic approach that includes monthly cash stipends, mental health supports, family workshops, and connections to community resources and support. 

 

About Karam Scholars: 

The Scholars Program supports Syrian refugee students in completing their higher education. We coach high school students to prepare them for university, provide grants to university students, and provide additional support in their personal, academic, and professional growth.

 

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Senior Program Manager will provide strategic oversight and management for two core programs, Karam Families and Karam Scholars, and initiatives related to camp activities in Hatay and the extended local area. The scope of the position includes strategy implementation, program development, and program staff leadership. The Senior Program Manager will initially directly manage four lead positions, ensuring the programs are effectively executed and aligned with the organization’s mission. The senior program manager will also work closely with the Outreach, Operations, and Monitoring and Evaluation teams. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Oversight and Implementation:
    • Lead the strategic planning and implementation for both Karam Families and Karam Scholars.
    • Develop and implement program strategies, goals, and objectives to ensure alignment with needs assessments and the organizational mission and vision.
    • Monitor and evaluate program performance, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
    • Identify opportunities for expanding the impact of the program including ad hoc and custom programs for other vulnerable populations
  2. Program Development and Management:
    • Oversee the design and implementation of program activities, ensuring they are evidence-based and meet the needs of the target populations.
    • Collaborate with program staff to develop selection criteria and processes for program participants.
    • Ensure ongoing communication with participants and stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities for program improvement.
  3. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Directly manage and support the four lead positions within the programs, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
    • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for program staff.
    • Implement performance management systems to evaluate and enhance staff performance.
    • Advise senior leadership on the need for professional and capacity development. 
  4. Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop and oversee program budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and alignment with financial plans.
    • Identify and pursue additional funding opportunities to support program sustainability and growth.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
    • Act as the primary liaison with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote program visibility and support.
    • Cultivate partnerships with educational institutions, NGOs, and other relevant organizations to enhance program impact.
  6. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with local regulations and organizational policies.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on program progress, challenges, and outcomes to the Site Manager, extended leadership team, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Management, International Development, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, preferably in a nonprofit setting. 
  • Experience with strategy implementation and monitoring and evaluation desirable
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Fluency in Arabic as well as either English or Turkish

 

LOCATION: Reyhanli, Turkey.
HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Saturday - Wednesday, 9:00 to 6:00 (1 hour lunch break)
COMPENSATION: The pay Scale is Based on the candidate's level of experience and qualifications and is paid in Turkish Lira.**

We are a Syrian-led organisation founded in 2007. We have been supporting Syrian communities in Syria, Turkey, Jordan, and the US since 2011. We've developed various innovative education projects including community innovation centers (Karam House) for refugee teens in Turkey and a higher education scholarship program for refugee youth, as well as have sustainable development and smart aid projects to address the evolving obstacles that Syrians face. We have built two Karam Houses, innovative workspaces for Syrian refugee teens, in Istanbul and Reyhanli, Turkey, which take on new innovative approaches to refugee education and learning. At Karam Houses, hundreds of Syrian refugee teens learn through access to cutting-edge technology (maker spaces, internet, computers), expert mentorship, and a sophisticated studio design-based curriculum to build their ideas and inspire their community. We are on a mission to grow 10,000 Leaders by 2028.
