Terms of Reference (ToR) for Trainer/Facilitator - MHPSS Trainings

  1. Introduction

DDD is looking for external facilitator/s to lead a five (5) days training; the main topics are psychosocial work with refugees, child mental health assessment, family assessment and intervention, reflecting groups and protection-based trainings. This training organises for DDD’s staff at MHPSS Centers (Psychotherapists, pss counsellors, pss animators, case management assistants, translators) to improve their technical skills.

 

      2. Background

 Dünya Doktorları Derneği (DDD) is a Turkish-based humanitarian non-governmental organisation that provides health and mental health care services for populations affected by armed conflict, violence, natural disasters, disease, famine, poverty and exclusion. DDD collaborates with partners and key stakeholders to implement projects that facilitate access to primary and secondary-level healthcare services to respond to the medical needs of the displaced population. DDD is the 16th member of the Doctors of the World-Médecins du Monde- International Network that is committed to meeting the health needs of vulnerable people globally. 

 

       3. Purpose and Coverage

The main aim of the trainings to support MHPSS Centres staff who are dealing with struggles in their working areas. For a reason to built the capacity of the staff is crucial. Following the idea of supporting the team; the training needs to be aimed at ensuring the provision of comprehensive, quality services to vulnerable refugees and displaced populations. The training will introduce MHPSS team to develop their understanding of working with vulnerable groups, psychological trauma, and related psychopathologies, working remotely after pandemic kinds of situations.

 

       4. Methodology and Scope of work

 Under this section, the proposed methods for organising the trainings/workshops on mentoring and capacity building for MHPSS team will be identified. The training needs to be designed for staff who are working for refugees in the field. Under the content of training’s sessions and in close co-operation with the expert trainers will implement the following tasks:

       B. CONDUCTİNG THE TRAİNİNGS

 

  1. Selection of the training/workshop dates in coordination with the DDD.
  2. Preparing and share training manuals for participants covering the modules of the course.
  3. Based on the adopted methodology and training schedule
  4. Evaluate the training (pre-test, post-test) and report regularly.
  5. Provide training certificates to all participants at the end of the training.
  6. Final report on the implementation of the tasks after finishing the training.

 

  • Language: All training (including all accompanying materials) is to be presented in Turkish and English.
  • Methodology: The training package shall include a combination of presentations and
  • hands-on exercises. Video recording of individual presentations may be undertaken.

 

B. RESOURCES TO BE MADE AVAILABLE

  1. In order to ensure that the training is completed successfully, the following are required:

                 a. One/two full-time trainer for the duration of the workshop

                 b. Accompanying materials for the workshop session: Support and reference material for participants covering the modules of the course

                 c. Certificates of training per subject/topic, for the participants.

 

5. Trainer/facilitator deliverables

 The following will be the expected deliverables of the consultancy:

  1. Work plan for developing the training/workshops, including strategy and proposed methodologies, as well as quality assurance plan;
  2. Evaluation of the trainer/facilitator work, based on evaluation forms received from participants;
  3. Successful facilitation of the training/workshop.
  4. Technical advice and support to participants during the training/workshop

 

6. Duration and time frame

 

The training/workshops shall be expected to be completed within 20 to 30 working days.

Three (3) days after signing of the contract the trainers/facilitators will have to provide to Dünya Doktorları Derneği with a plan for implementing trainings/workshops that will articulate the overall requirements of the ToR including proposed methodology, work plan with clear timelines, and division of labour.

 

Please send your budget as per day cost for each of these training, conducted by each trainers.

 

7. Consultancy Competencies, Experience and Skill Requirements:

 

       Minimum post-graduate university degree in Social Science or another relevant field.

  • Extensive experience (at least 5 years) experience in completing trainings/workshops/teaching for organisations.
  • Extensive experience in building capacities.
  • Demonstrated a high level of professionalism and an ability to work independently and in high-pressure situations under tight deadlines.
  • Provision of translation services for non-Turkish speakers (Turkish- Arabic Translation)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including experience of facilitation of trainings/workshops and presentation.
  • Proven and demonstrated broad knowledge of and ability to utilise principles, methods, techniques, and systems of MHPSS and Protection.
  • Experience in delivering training to civil society organisation
  • Experience in researching or working with refugee community in Turkey
  • Proven capacity for the delivery of this training (Content, staff etc.)

  •   Knowledge of the Principles of interview techniques in psychosocial work

  •   Knowledge of the principles and approaches of pandemic psychology 

 

8. Deadline and submission of expression of interest

 

DDD invites interested teams to submit the following documents by no later than 24 August 2020, at 1 PM.

 

 

  • Expression of interest (EoI) outlining how the trainers/facilitators meets the selection criteria and their understanding of the ToR. 
  • A summarised description of the scope of work and the intended methodology to be used as well as a tentative work plan, including activities and time frames. 
  • Names and contacts of three recent professional referees (previous clients) for whom similar work has been conducted. 
  • An example of similar pieces of work completed recently. 
  • Curriculum vitae (CV) outlining relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Itemized financial proposal.

 

     9. Evaluation and Selection Process

 

This application is open to trainers/facilitators who are specialised in completing trainings/workshops and have proven and demonstrated broad knowledge of and ability to utilise the principles, methods, techniques and systems of mentoring, community outreach, youth development, and identification of vulnerable youth. The selected trainers/facilitator will be responsible for designing and executing all the activities described in this TOR in collaboration with DDD.

 

The selection process of the trainers/facilitator will be based on the set of criteria developed by the DDD Evaluation Committee to evaluate the proposals. The Evaluation Committee will evaluate the proposals by using the combined scoring method. Technical proposal will be evaluated on 60%; whereas financial proposals will be evaluated on 40%. The shortlisted bidding consultant or firm may be asked for a formal presentation prior to the final selection.

 

 

 10.  Final report

This section outlines expectations in terms of inception and final reporting, as well as interim process updates.   

The Final report will document the context in which the trainings/workshops took place. Changes in the socio-economic or political environment are likely to influence the type of data collected and responses received.

 

The deadline for sending the report is 1 week after completion of trainings/workshops. Approval of the final report by the Contracting Authority will be the basis for issuing the final payment as indicated in the Special Conditions.
