Shafak was officially established in 10-10-2013 (registration no. 27-016-129). It was founded during the early months of the Syrian Crisis in 2011. At its core, Shafak is a grassroots NGO that was formed by Syrians for Syrians, with the intent of addressing the needs of their life with dignity, equality and humanity with a focus on sustainability and autonomy.

Shafak is an impartial, independent, non-profit NGO that exists for the express purpose of providing humanitarian services to vulnerable people regardless of political or religious affiliations and on the long run to contribute to recover and rebuilding the society on freedom, justice and equality basis.

Role Purpose

Coordination between the main stakeholders in the project such as (trainers, trainees, contracted facilities, Universities, and research centers) to ensure the project runs in a healthy manner. And overcoming language barriers that may hinder the progress of the project.

Location:

HQ/Gaziantep

Reports to; Project Manager

Supervision responsibility:  N/A

Budget responsibility: N/A 

Key areas of accountability and responsibilities:

  • Coordination with Turkish Liaison Sr. officer to get the requested approvals for training, borders, etc.
  • Provide simultaneous translation from Turkish to Arabic and vice versa.
  • Liaising with the universities and research centers.
  • Supervising and monitoring the training activities.
  • Coordination with the trainers and the trainees about the schedules
  • Coordination with the contracted facilities to ensure suitable services for the training
  • Coordinate for the needed materials and statutory for the trainers and the trainees
  • Ensure that the project runs in a healthy manner in cooperation with all personnel
  • Supporting the trainers and answering their questions related to the accommodation, transportation and other related issues.
  • Ensuring that the visibility and registration materials to be used in the training sessions are obtained by direct observation in the training place and communicating with the trainers who will be giving the presentations.
  • Maintaining and monitoring project plans, project schedules, work hours, budgets and expenditures.
  • Providing weekly, monthly reports on a regular basis.
  • Organizing, attending and participating in stakeholder meetings.
  • Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
  • Ensuring project deadlines are met.
  • Providing administrative support as needed.
  • Undertaking project tasks as required.
  • Ensuring all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
  • Working collaboratively with related stakeholders to implement the project

Required Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

  • Graduate degree in Social Sciences, Business, Agriculture is desirable.
  • Fluent in speaking and writing Arabic and Turkish.  English is desirable.
  • Ability to Translate between Turkish and Arabic languages
  • Experience working with I/NGOs in Turkey.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the project.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge in administrative procedures.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines/ ability to work under pressure.
  • Good adaptation skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, work in a fluid context and adaptation for unexpected situations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability and flexibility to undertake domestic travel.
  • Ability to be an analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Turkish Citizenship.
