JOB ADVERTISEMENT – Visual and Digital Communications Officer

SCI employ approximately 25,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 100 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and child protection. CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3 – The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.


ROLE PURPOSE: 

This role is critical for our community engagement and to ensure that affected communities  understand our services and activities. The Visual and Digital Communications Officer is contributing to implementation of communications strategy and is responsible for ensuring digital and social media presence of Save the Children in Turkiye. This post will also The post holder will also work on development graphic design materials.

The Visual and Digital Communications Officer is responsible for collaboration with program teams in implementation of communications, advocacy and campaign strategies, media engagement plans, digital and social media strategies. The post holder will work to ensure the compliance with government requirements on campaign and advocacy initiatives.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

  • Support Save the Children’s Turkiye campaign efforts through raising public awareness on the education, humanitarian needs, displacement and health issues facing children post-earthquake in Turkiye through leading on implementation of campaign activities on social media, producing digital materials
  • Contribute to production of accurate, clear and consistent information and communications outputs that highlight children’s situation and Save the Children’s work in Turkiye, including  personal stories, videos, graphics or illustrations, etc.
  • Lead in the development of social media plan as well as production of multimedia materials, website content and other digital work while using analytics to ensure all internal KPIs are met
  • Use social media platforms for information dissemination, outreach and promotion of activities
  • Coordinate with colleagues from different departments in communicating the program evidence, best practice and achievements as well as planning of digital component for campaigns for all SCI Turkiye
  • Develop and design graphic design products for print and digital
  • Identify influencers and other major social media content creators for collaboration and the promotion of Save the Children Turkiye and our activities
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Output expectations:

  • Coordinating the messaging and posts for the social media platforms to ensure affected communities understand how and where to get Save the Children support
  • Compiling relevant information, helping to create educational materials, checking quality of videos and images, proof-reading and editing of documents, supporting out etc.
  • Sharing internal news and announcements, organising internal meetings, taking meeting notes, filing documents and materials online, etc.
  • Effective representation of Save the Children’s positions and messages in advocacy and outreach activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential

  • University degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, journalism, media, communications or similar discipline.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written Turkish and Arabic to provide outputs for a wide range of different audiences.
  • At least two years of professional experience in communications, multimedia, journalism, visual and digital or traditional media or external communications work
  • Proven ability to implement social media campaign and successfully manage social media accounts
  • Successful use of graphic design and/or video editing software
  • Can produce accurate, clear and consistent information and communication outputs relating to both programme support and humanitarian situation
  • Proven ability to work with communities and partners to gather case studies, testimonies and information on the humanitarian situation and on programmes.
  • Experience and understanding of the situation in Turkiye, including the sensitivities

Desirable

  • High level of spoken and written English
  • Previous INGO experience
  • Previous experience in an international setting

Position holder will be based in Gaziantep or Hatay, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis.
