Shafak was officially established in 10-10-2013 (registration no. 27-016-129). It was founded during the early months of the Syrian Crisis in 2011. At its core, Shafak is a grassroots NGO that was formed by Syrians for Syrians, with the intent of addressing the needs of their life with dignity, equality and humanity with a focus on sustainability and autonomy. 
Shafak is an impartial, independent, non-profit NGO that exists for the express purpose of providing humanitarian services to vulnerable people regardless of political or religious affiliations and on the long run to contribute to recover and rebuilding the society on freedom, justice and equality basis.

Role Purpose
The WASH Program Officer ensures that water, sanitation, and hygiene project, programs, and awareness are implemented effectively, professionally, and in accordance with the culture and practices of the local population.
Location:
HQ/Gaziantep

Reports to: WASH project manager;

 Key areas of accountability and responsibilities:

  • Preparing the activity plan and monitoring and evaluation system for the proposal
  • Contributing to contingency planning for possible WASH emergency response if required
  • preparation of internal and external reports (weekly and Monthly reports).
  • Make technical input into the planning and design of project specific operational researches.
  • Prepare and review Bill of Quantities ( BoQs) and Technical conditions guidelines.
  • communicate with supporting departments and follow up the orders.
  • Ensuring quality and integrity of implementation, including adherence to technical guidelines, administrative systems, and established deadlines
  • Assisting in the preparation of the WASH proposals

Required Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

  • Degree in Engineering, or other relevant training
  • Good reporting skills.
  • Experience dealing with WASH project not less than two years. 
  • Good English skills (writing and speaking)
  • Good knowledge in using Microsoft programs and AutoCAD.
  • Essential: basic training in WASH programming
