JOB ADVERTISEMENT – Case Management Intern x 2

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programmes; or are visiting country programmes; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: 

The intern will be supporting the implementation of a protection and psycho-social support project in Istanbul, following up on the tasks assigned by the Project Coordinator. Under the general supervision of the Project Coordinator, he/she will support the Case Management Officer and Case Management Assistant. Work with the CM Officer in the process of identification, assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and case closure. Support the case management process. The intern is expected to adhere to the agreed upon Standard Operations Procedures of case management with CM Officer.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Project Coordinator

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Assisting in the identification, assessment, documentation, referral (to relevant services) and follow-up of children and families at risk
  • Assist in case management, IPA related procurement and delivery process
  • Provide a child-centered approach and always act in the best interests of the child.
  • Providing information about available social services and how to access them
  • Working as a member of a team that ensures fluent communication of relevant information to ensure that cases are supported in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the community mobilization team and MHPSS team to identify and manage child protection cases in the community
  • Facilitate, collect and report information on the general situation of child protection risks
  • Maintain files, records, computer databases and records in paper or electronic format based on the principle of confidentiality
  • To fulfil other duties assigned by the department manager within the capacity and ability.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work and other relevant disciplines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ethical sensitivity and ability to empathise with children and their carers
  • Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken Turkish and Arabic
  • Ability to write weekly and monthly reports
  • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work flexible hours when necessary
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
  • Commitment to upholding Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy
  • Good working knowledge on using MS Office (Word and Excel)
  • Experience in community mobilization and conducting outreach activities
  • Knowledge and understanding of inter-agency standards and guidelines in child protection
  • Graduation from PSS-related disciplines is highly desired
  • Experience in community mobilisation and conducting outreach activities as well as working with children and families is highly desired.
  • Experience within a development/humanitarian organization is highly desired.
  • Knowledge and understanding of inter-agency standards and guidelines in child protection, including the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action is highly desired.
  • Good communication skills in English is highly desired.
  • Experience within a development/humanitarian organization is highly desired.

Position holder will be based in Istanbul, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
