JOB ADVERTISEMENT – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Intern

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.


ROLE PURPOSE: 

The MEAL Intern plays a supportive role in ensuring program quality and accountability to affected populations through timely feedback management, field visit support, and accurate data documentation. This position supports the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) team in implementing accountability mechanisms and routine monitoring activities in line with Save the Children’s standards.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: The MEAL Intern supports the MEAL team in carrying out accountability-related activities and MEAL field&office work in close coordination with program staff.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Support accountability mechanisms by documenting, categorizing, and entering feedback received from community members through hotlines, suggestion boxes, face-to-face meetings, and field visits.
  • Manage the official feedback email account by checking, categorizing, and routing messages in line with response timelines and protocols.
  • Answer incoming accountability-related calls professionally, documenting key information, and escalating serious cases in accordance with the accountability framework.
  • Support in preparing for and conducting community visits, feedback sessions, and awareness-raising activities in the field.
  • Assist in the collection, cleaning, and entry of quantitative and qualitative data gathered through surveys, FGDs, KIIs, and monitoring tools.
  • Participate in learning activities such as Lessons Learned sessions, and team reflection meetings.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining proper documentation of MEAL tools, reports, data sheets, and case tracking files (digital and hard copy).
  • Contribute to preparation of visual or written reports summarizing feedback trends and participation levels for internal learning and donor reporting.
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Output expectations:

  • Accurate entry and regular updating of feedback tracking logs.
  • Timely follow-up on received emails and hotline calls under supervision.
  • Organized digital filing system for feedback documentation and MEAL tools.
  • Participation in a minimum of two field visits per month (as security and program context allow).
  • Contribution to monthly MEAL reports and learning products.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Proficiency in written and spoken Turkish.
  • Proficiency in spoken Arabic.
  • Demonstrated interest in data, community engagement, or accountability.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with humanitarian work or civil society projects.
  • Experience with data entry or survey tools such as KoboToolbox, CommCare.
  • Knowledge of English and Arabic is an asset.

Position holder will be based in Hatay ,therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
