Interpreter

The National UN Youth Volunteer Interpreters will support IOM Türkiye in providing interpretation and translation services within the scope of migration management and assistance programs.

Task Description & Key Responsibilities

• Provide spoken and written interpretation between Turkish and the required language.
• Assist relevant governmental and humanitarian bodies in communication with migrants.
• Maintain confidentiality and neutrality in all interactions.
• Support documentation and reporting processes as needed.

Eligibility Criteria

• Age Requirement: 18 - 80
• Nationality: Must be a national or legal resident of Türkiye
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Translation & Interpretation, Linguistics, or a related field
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in interpretation/translation
• Languages: Fluent in Turkish and one of the target languages

Living Conditions & Remarks

• The UN Volunteer will be based in the city listed in the application link (DoA) and will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials.
• The National UN Youth Volunteer will work at the location listed in the application link (DoA), and the other will be assigned to the location listed in the application link (DoA) as part of the IOM team.

The Summary of national UN Volunteer (Youth) Entitlement: Paid in local currency - Turkish Lira

• Current Monthly Living Allowance (MLA): USD 1088 (disbursed in Turkish Lira)
• Private Insurance: 100% coverage (Health, dental, life, and dismemberment by CIGNA)
• Entry Allowance: USD 400
• Exit Allowance: USD 113 per month (paid upon satisfactory completion of assignment)
• Annual Leave: 2.5 days per calendar month
• Free access to learning platforms and UN & UNV network
