Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Junior GBV ( Gender-Based Violence) Worker to join our team in Mardin. The position focuses on providing direct support, awareness-raising, and capacity-building activities to address the risks, prevention, and response to GBV within refugee and host communities. The Junior GBV Worker will work closely with women and girls, as well as engage men and boys to foster understanding and support in preventing GBV. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that promote social cohesion and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and Case Management:
    • Assist in identifying and supporting survivors of GBV, ensuring adherence to confidentiality and survivor-centered principles.
    • Provide basic psychosocial support and make referrals to appropriate services, such as legal aid, health care, or specialized counseling.
  • Awareness and Training:
    • Conduct awareness-raising sessions on GBV risks, prevention, and response for community members.
    • Support the delivery of training sessions to women, men, and youth on topics such as gender equality, healthy relationships, and GBV mitigation strategies.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Collaborate with community groups and leaders to promote GBV prevention and response mechanisms.
    • Participate in planning and implementing community events to enhance understanding of GBV and its impact.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Collect and document data related to program activities, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Prepare regular reports on activities, challenges, and progress for review by the Project Coordinator.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other team members, including Protection Specialist, social workers, and trainers.
    • Maintain effective communication with local authorities, partner organizations, and stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (minimum 1 year) in community engagement or GBV-related work, especially with vulnerable populations, is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of GBV principles, survivor-centered approaches, and referral pathways.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work respectfully with diverse groups.
  • Understanding of gender dynamics and sensitivity to cultural contexts.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Languages:

  • Fluency in Turkish is required.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and/or Kurdish is an asset.
  • Basic English skills are preferred.
